Fun exploring?

Does anyone know how to make multiplayer exploring fun other than changing difficulty? Thanks! This can include surface trips or cave networks.

Do it on a pig with the carrot on a stick and bring lots of stairs / slabs.
EDIT: Whoops, thought this was Survival. -.-

Anyway, for XBL, you can bring some water with you, make a pole so you can't see the ground, go in one direction for a while, drop the bucket, and explore.

I always go into cave networks, mining with my friends. When we get out, we ride back to our home on pigs with saddles.
