Hi I was wondering what is the smallest a slime farm can be brick x brick? also does there have to be torches on the ground.

You can go to www.chunkbase.com to find slime chunks in your world. Type in your seed (works for Xbox too) and it will find slime chunks in the area you put in to search. You wouldn't really need to make it 4 blocks high, it would be another 256 blocks to dig out and all for some jumping space for big slimes. Also, don't use torches, especially not on the ground, because they cancel whatever block they're placed on as a spawning space. I would recommend glowstone or glowing pumpkins and put them in the floor, walls, or ceiling.

Yes slimes will still spawn on blocks with torches. They won't spawn on opaque blocks like glowstone though. Best to put it in the ceiling.

glowstones on the other hand, if planted in the floor will affect spawning space as these are transparent blocks and slimes dont like transparent blocks such as glowstone and glass.

Jack o Lanterns are fine though and will make your floor look nicer than if it was covered in torches

Ok, I'll buy the glowstone transparency, but not the torches. Are they spawning in the torches or on top of them? What about this? cover a slime chunk in torches and put a three high ceiling on it so that if slimes spawn inside the block the torch is on big slimes will spawn. But, if they spawn on top, there will be no large slimes.

You test it. We've already told you how it works.

after i switched from torches to jack o lanterns in my slime farm, i found it to spawn a lot more slimes.. it may be the reason or it may be all in my head but i always put jack o laterns in the floor from now on

I have jack-o-lanterns in my floor, and dug out another level above and put jack-o-lanterns in the floor there too. The first floor has pumpkins in the floor and ceiling. I love how it looks. And you only need to go 3 high....I built my first floor 4 blocks high, and the 2nd 3 blocks high....large slimes spawn in both.
