Just today I planned to make a spider xp farm for xp and spider eyes because I rarely have any spider eyes for potions. So i'm waiting for the update patiently doing all my farming so I could reset my nether and get nether warts for potions. This world is generated in 1.7.3 (TU6) I have no cave spider spawners in my world. All of the land is generated so technically impossible.
Now to the point. I'm experiencing 1 major problem. Spiders seem to track me through the walls so it's nearly impossible to get them where I want them to be. My crush system and my transportation are completely normal. 2x3/2x4 block space in the transportation. I have completely sealed the room and everywhere so they can't see me. I tested it for 5 minutes sitting in the holder or the collecting area and only 1 out of 10 spiders come. Now I go above the water transportation and see if they could track me. So I acted like there was glass as if they could see right through it and try moving them around to get them into the collecting or holder area. Turns out most of the spiders came but some still seem to be stuck. I was thinking lower the roof but I wasn't sure if that was a good idea. I have no clue what to do please help.
I spent almost the whole day trying to make this as good as possible. I had to take it down 2x just to get it right. The last problem is getting them into the holder/collecting area. I used DwarfAugustus design on Youtube. Just a heads up on how it looks like.
Something I tried was having the xp farming room where all the spiders collect a good many blocks above the spawner itself, it takes a bit more patience for the tubing but it works in the end.
For some reason I can't get a pic of what you're saying.. but why not dig completely under the spawner... .. so the drop is at least 7 blocks so it'll keep spawning more ..(mobs need to be 6 away from the spawner to spawn more) and then they can fall on water and be funneled into your crushing system.. That's what I do.. I connected 2 cave spider ones into 1 crusher and yeah one of them is a bit problematic... because they can see you thru walls so they get stuck on the "L shaped turn" .. but as more spawn they get pushed in the right direction.. into the tunnel

I've noticed if spiders can't reach you, they tend to climb up the wall closest to you, so maybe just move your transport hall to the top of the room, so they "climb" right in trying to get to you. I've used a spider spawner for a while to grind xp (though i just wore iron armor and stood in there with an iron sword and killed em) because it had been the only one I found.
Spiders can and will track you from I believe 16 blocks away even through walls, they also love climbing my suggestion is cover the walls of the spawn area in signs. Spiders can't climb signs.
