The new Xbox will have 16 times the RAM and over 8x the computing power. It would be smart for 4j to make a new version. I would buy it.
Absolutely agree.
If someone gives you a Ford Focus with a V-8 dropped in it, you gonna still putter around?
Taking this a step further, let's say that 4J does do a new version. The posts from the PC crowd are gonna be fun to read! They will scream their little heads clean off demanding that they have the newer version too- and probably a better one. Can't let them xbox boys get ahead of them! Wonder if Java can handle it?
It's gonna be interesting to see what happens in the next few months.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.

If anything they will have the same game, just options for world generation such as bigger world sizes and stuff like that. I doubt they will exclude the people who don't get the 720 (me).
And no, A ford focus with a V-8 will not putter around.
I recall a discussion from around minecon time about the "new" direction for MCXBLA with most of the options floated beign focused on the "competitive" side of minecraft. I believe the designers see MCXBLA as being played mostly by families on spiltscreen (or friends over xBox Live) as a friendly pvp enterprise. Ideas specifically mentioned were CTF options and other PVP features.
I wouldn't expect to see a whole lot of new "content" in future TUs (such as new mobs, blocks, etc.). Rather I'd expect to see more game mode options since this more closely jives with the designers apparent conception of what MCXBLA "means."
Geneo is right. They will want and beg Mojang to give them the features. Remember. Requirements for PC are 256 MB of ram. They have that to fit the whole game into. Our minimum will be our maximum, which is 5 GB of DDR3 because I heard that three GB of ram will be for the system. We will have way more features.
I definitely believe development for the 360 port of Minecraft won't stop anytime soon. The next gen Xbox isn't due for another year, so therefore we can expect plenty more updates from 4J. They haven't quite caught up with the PC version so we still have many new features to look foward to.
Who knows if 4J will innovate the port or not. Hopefully once the port is caught up they don't just let it stale until the next gen consoles come out.
yes but will we have to restart on the updates on the next gen consoles as well??? IF SO FML
Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world right now. It's sold millions of copies for the PC and the 360, and continues to sell more copies every day. We won't be seeing the end of it anytime soon. As long as it's popular, they'll keep putting out new content for it.
they said villagers proffeshions, so hope that means trading villagers
offtopic: im only buying 720/ps4 depending on 3 things, friends minecraft and if i can record on it
but wont they have to update everything again????
The only reason that 4J "had to update everything" on this version was that they started making the game when PC was in whatever version we started in. (Beta?) So for the 720, Minecraft should be in whatever version PC is at when it starts being made.
Who's to say that the new Xbox won't carry over the XBLA and its current games with it? I can't see them dropping a game that's making them so much money. I can envision them adding more options for rendering to help carry the heavy load of new features for the current Xbox since its specs will be lower. There is cloud rendering and void fog already according to the latest TU9 live stream.
