TU9 is a biggie, there's no denying that. It adds The End and what is the closest to a "official quest" that Minecraft has (other than surviving). The last "biggie" was the Adventure pack, which I must say really breathed some new life into the game for me.
I'm rather surprised, honestly, how industrious 4J has been. They have delivered a LOT of post-purchase content, on the house.
But that doesn't make money.
I am getting the feeling that this is the last "biggie" for the XBLA version, at least for the Xbox 360. I see 2-3 more bug fix updates, but I think this is it. The gamer market is finally moving to the next generation of console, and I'm pretty sure that will mean a new version of Minecraft, for the new rig only. Naturally these assumptions rest on the notion that the new consoles will be out for Christmas, which they almost certainly will be.
They'll probably start releasing more DLC, such as skin, texture and maybe even some unique feature packs that we'll have to pay for. Honestly since it's one of the most played games on the market for xbox right now I very much doubt they'll let it go
Honestly, I would hazard to guess that we may see support for XBLA version even when new consoles come out. I doubt they're gonna drop production because a new 500$ system is on the horizon. I'm sure microsoft is not stupid enough to think literally everyone with a 360 will get a 720 first day and buy an arcade game. Trust me, we'll get continued updates for a while to come.
I believe we'll have more updates to come, since 4J promised us Jungles and trading villagers.
And I don't think money is a problem, because it took only one hour after the game release to make it profitable - MCXBLA sold 300.000 copies on it's release day, and we have right now something around 5 million copies sold.
minecraft is a big game, those are cosoles of the future, and times are tough. (for some people) my bet is that 4j will keep pumpin out updates,at least 1 tu after the new consoles kick in,but hey, that just my bet.

I'm sure they've said somewhere they would upgrade to "anvil" for level generation. When they do I presume i'd have to make a new world so i'm not updating when that comes out as I love my current world.
Off topic: Does anyone know when the anvil system comes out I will HAVE to create a new map or press on with my old one as the map is already generated?
They actually said they would be looking at what parts of the ANVIL map format they would like to bring to the Xbox 360 Edition. With the way or worlds work, some of the map format wouldn't apply. So they're going to pick and choose pieces of it to bring to the Xbox 360 Edition.
As for your question, the ANVIL thing was nothing more than a change in save structure for worlds. It just changed how chunks and memory were handled. It also allowed a greater number of varying blocks to be added to the game by increasing the available block IDs to over 4000 or something like that.
Depending on whether or not they change the way our worlds are saved, which I highly doubt they will, you wouldn't need to make a new world. On the PC, worlds were converted from the old format to the ANVIL format when the update came out. If they were to do it to the Xbox 360 Edition, I'm sure they'd do the same thing where your worlds get converted and everything stays.
they said villagers proffeshions, so hope that means trading villagersofftopic: im only buying 720/ps4 depending on 3 things, friends minecraft and if i can record on it
but wont they have to update everything again????
Not too mention with the next generation of consoles quickly approaching we'll probably have an xbox 720 (or whatever they call it) version of Minecraft which will have better specs (or whatever its called) allowing for more features, namely, and probably bigger worlds
This and the next update are the last updates MC XBOX 360 will have that is mostly based upon the PC version.
Now, we go our own way. And we kinda already have. (new music for different dimensions, beaches, ender acid, etc)
Who knows what will be added? Birds? Deer? Seacreatures? Realistic biome positioning (been dieing for this), Maybe, coral? Volcanoes? (none like the PC mods, those suck, we need real volcanoes that erupt and generate a nightime ash), maybe even solar eclipse? (can't tell you how many times I keep thinking I see a solar eclipse on mc360 because the moon looks weird when it's a new moon state)
There are endless possibilities.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
I do wonder where this game will go, but I am not losing sleep over it. Lol I just keep plucking away at the feathers until I get bored/burned out... then wait till later for more. Updates will come and go and this game will grow

I've grown rather bored of minecraft, I play it when i'm tired, and I end up falling asleep while in a cave or something, so when I wake up i have somehow burned to death.......

I definitely believe development for the 360 port of Minecraft won't stop anytime soon. The next gen Xbox isn't due for another year, so therefore we can expect plenty more updates from 4J. They haven't quite caught up with the PC version so we still have many new features to look foward to.
Who knows if 4J will innovate the port or not. Hopefully once the port is caught up they don't just let it stale until the next gen consoles come out.

I'd imagine that's what the disk release is for; preparing for the jump to next generation. (Well, I guess this mostly sits on whether or not the next xbox has backwards compatibility. If it does, then bravo, Minecraft into the next generation.)

Xbox 360 Edition - 6,000,000
PC - 9,866,541
I doubt the updates are going to stop anytime in for the foreseeable future.

I'll keep the post as 5 million or it will not make sense for those who read it later
