I'm fairly new to Minecraft, I've only been playing for 6 months. My 5 year old daughter started playing it on our iPad and I would help her with things. The next thing I knew we would be fighting over the iPad..... Lol. being a lego fanatic as a kid this game just clicked with me immediately. I have just a few questions that maybe experienced players can answer.
- First off, I am currently building a small town, highly detailed houses, roads, and landscape. The problem is after my 6th house I am completely out of ideas. Any suggestions on places/sites to go to for inspiration?
-Second, with the new update on the horizon, will I have to start a new world if I want all the new features?
-Lastly, do most people play and work together with friends or play solo? I have no friends that play this game.
1.) Try building a big castle. Like Castle Ravenloft or Shadowhaven or Erebor. Also, you can build lighthouses, harbors, kennels, mage academies, warehouses, arenas, redstone workshops, ranches, a mass transit around the world.... any of those...
2.) Yes and no. Features such as new recipes and functionality will be available to you on old games. However, if you have explored the world (ie filled in the map), there will be no further generation of terrain in your world, and if the update involved some terrain changes, you will not get them.
3.) Both. If you have no friends to play with, I'm sure you can find a few folks around here. The problem is that playing Minecraft multiplayer is a risk -- if you enable options for them to participate, they can rob you and destroy your work (sometimes accidentally).
First, there's plenty of ideas if you use you imagination. Build up! Build bigger! Build down! Build additional rooms! Apartments, offices, castles, there's all sorts of "houses" you can build yet. As for sites, try searching youtube BUT stay with the PE videos- no sense watching something PE isn't capable of building.
Second, in general, yes, you don't have to start a new world to get all the new features- unless they're terrain features AND you don't have any unexplored areas.
Lastly, I think most people play solo (I do), though I've heard it's more fun with friends. NOTE: this can totally depend on the friends (or "friends").
For ideas, I often just google Minecraft buildings and look at the variety of pictures that come up. Then, I often take a walk around where I live and look for inspiration/ideas there.
TU9 should not require you to change worlds to access the new stuff if your last world was generated in TU8 and has an intact end portal in the stronghold. As a bonus, if your current world did not generate a fortress complete with blaze spawners and nether wart, you will have an option to reset the nether so that these items, if missing, will generate this time round.
I don't currently have any online play available to me, so I'm pretty much restricted to playing locally with friends in my own livingroom. However, welcome to the forums and I'm sure you will make friends here!
