Once Title Update 9 comes out, me and my friends plan to make an underwater base. Problem is, we have no clue how the design will play out. Do you guys have any tips or any specific designs we can follow?
enchant helmets for respiration and aqua affinity. preferrably both.
This ^^ helps a lot. I would build the walls and level the base floor, then fill the structure by dropping sand from the surface before putting on the roof. Then, after I have the roof on and the structure sealed off from water entering, I go in with a torches and start removing the sand in columns by digging out the bottom of sand with the torch and then quickly inserting the torch in my hand before the rest of the columns starts to fall. Then I insert additional floors and interior walls and such in the now dry shell.
Well if you have enough wool you could always use that for the interior. Then once you have your shell (whether glass or similar mix, as long as not wood) you just light the wool on fire; just make sure you have room enough to do so... ladders and doors will not burn, well far as I know. However wool will. Well that is if you loaded the game with fire spread on. No torch needed, just flint and plenty of wool.. Learned this from another you tube person that I believe does not make videos anymore.
Whether I use this method or not all depends on how much excess wool I have, and since I usually have hardly any I don't. The dirt/sand/gravel bit I actually use depending on my mood. Yes I like digging. I just do not really like harvesting wood...>< Anyway the ladder/door part someone mentioned is what I use at the start and build out from that the form that I want.
Usually I will not even have those helms everyone is mentioning, so I just use ladders and breathe when I need to by walking to a post with ladders on it. Simple enough. Problem with TU7-8 is the fact the water is stronger and will keep you down if you are drowning, so keep that in mind while you build underwater and you will not die...:D always watch your air bubbles...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Bring netherack or dirt (Netherack is mined faster) i dont use wood because it takes longer to get & It burns pretty slow
Make a Big/Little square or dome.. whatever you want your base's shape to be
Then Cover it with glass
Break a piece go inside and destroy the netherack/Dirt
(One more thing that is very important!) Bring one Spare dirt and alot/some sugar cane.. You place the dirt and put sugarcane on it and it makes a air pocket for you to breathe in!
My way seems to be the easiest. all you need is maybe a respiration enchant. Build a dirt floor above the water. then put sand or gravel in the shape that you want. then you break the dirt floor and let the sand fall in the shape of your structure and then all you have to do is put glass around the sand or gravel. go inside and take out sand or gravel and now you have an underground base.
It's great that you decided to join the community, I hope you enjoy your stay!
The best way to build a underwater structure is hard to explain, but this diagram does it quite nicely!
I hope this helps!
EDIT: Also, remember that destroy a block when the top half of your player is in a water block makes destroying blocks take a bit longer. Be careful not to misplace to many blocks!
This is the easiest way I've found to build underwater. Underwater builds are a pain, even in creative.
Plant sugar cane or ladders or signs for air blocks for you to breathe.
Get 1 or 2 stacks of dirt to clear out the water source blocks.
Build normally but just remember to use air blocks/pockets and stack of dirt to clear out the water.
I used the sand method and it worked great. However I would recommend using a sand generator. I can`t find the link to the video that i used, however here is one that is for the same design ( ).
