MC is an ever changing environment.. not pretty textures placed on preset "structures" like a standard FPS.
But again.. where can I check out your coding prowess at work?

Check it out for awesome tutorials and constant content!
Reminder: This is an arcade game not a call of duty game. This isn't that hard to code. Come on. 2 months to make the end. Shouldn't take that long. They already have coded EVERYTHING on the PC! Why does it take so long on xbox? It's not like xbox is hard to code just like the PS3. Not trying to say I hate 4J but seriously? This is an arcade game not a call of duty game that takes a year to make. Look it on treyarchs side. They get 4 map packs coded and a zombie map coded in a few months thats harder than an arcade game coming out with items and fixes. All that time used, they could've had upside down half slabs and stairs, redstone lamps, silk touch collecting ice (I think they kept that a secret so they fixed it already i'm assuming), possibly jungle biomes(I could understand that could take a little while to code), emeralds, and little bit more things. I appreciate them making it but it really shouldn't be taking that long. That's just my opinion. You guys can think whatever but I just know it isn't hard to code.
I can certainly agree that the porting of the game now appears to have fallen well behind the pace at which the game was written in the first place. I can also speculate about many possible reasons why this is happening that are not related to coding speed.
Was it, perhaps, our (forum members) erroneous assumption that the original porting agreement entailed bring the game up to 1.2.3? We do seem to be oscillating around 1.0 (with the exception of a few items brought forward and couple of new ones)... and THAT was the official release of Minecraft on PC.
Is there perhaps an unforeseen problem with bringing the ANVIL format into the XBox? ANVIL was the change that enabled the increase in world height and that improved on the game's compression (which would potential free up RAM). If for some reason, this change is not going well; then perhaps it explains the delay... and if ANVIL just can't be implemented, it might mean that the XBOX 360 version may not ever be capable of supporting jungles and a host of other additions to the game that may require more RAM than this old system has available.
Obviously, this would not be good news for any of us and I sincerely hope that it isn't the case; but the pessimist in me is worried. All we can do at this point is wait and see. At any rate, badgering 4J and each other is just not going to do anything positive to help speed things up.

I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this but I don't care. Almost everyone on this thread sounds like spoiled children. How can you possibly say this update is disappointing? Even with all of the things that are being pushed (or shoved) forward, not to mention the things that the PC version doesn't even have yet, it still isn't good enough for you? Oh wah wah, we don't get jungles yet, BIG DEAL! At least we will get them! In case you haven't noticed, 4j has been releasing complete versions of things (like enchanting) instead of a little at a time. I would bet that in the next update we should get jungles, colored jungle wood and items, cocoa bean plants, increased world height, ocelots, villager trading, iron golems, upside down & corner stairs, upside down slabs, upside down trap doors, etc, etc. Sure, I'm disappointed that we're not getting pumpkin pies, but I'll get over it. Maybe we'll get those in the next update as well. Although there are still secrets in most updates that are not in the changelogs.
I'm sorry "ThankOurTroops" I didn't realize that stating ones opinion is crying these days. This is a forum, a place to come to talk about different issues concerning mine craft. I am new here, but it's the same way in every forum I've been a part of. Some people don't like a topic or a thread so they feel they must criticize other people who comment in that thread. In the words of Rodney King......... Can't we all just get along?........ Lol.
"ThankOurTroops" you do have the best user name I've seen in a while! Retired, 4th infantry, 124th signal battalion "voice of the iron horse.

Don't worry, these topics always read through the same. Someone expresses discontent with updates, someone springs to 4J's defense and it just goes round and round. The truth is none of it matters at all. 4J does what they can do, plain and simple. And perhaps only a handful of people registered on this forum have anything close to an idea of how their coding and update process works. Doesn't mean that I or many others like me don't wish they could do much more, or speculate as to why or how they could possibly do things differently. Take anything that anyone says in here with a big grain of salt (with the exception of the moderators of course).
I did say I knew I would get a lot of crap for that didn't I? It's not that I'm "springing to 4j's defense", I just can't stand it when people think they are entitled to get everything they want. Yes, I want jungles and other things like everyone else, but I'm not going to complain and say that a worth while update is disappointing. I'm going to wait patiently and enjoy what I'm given. This is a great update after all.

It's pretty simple "ThankOurTroops", People get disappointed because they really like certain aspects of Minecraft on the PC and then when we hear an update is on the horizon we get our hopes up that these items will be included in the update. When someones personal favorites are not included in the update they are bound to be disappointed. Thats human nature. It is not "entitlement", it's just disappointment like the thread said. Like you said, this is going to be a great update. That doesn't mean I'm not disappointed that the Jungle Biome wasn't included, I wish it was. I'm holding out hope that they release the update tomorrow, even though I believe it will be next Tuesday. I have off work the next two days and could put in a really good two day shift!

Mostly all major arcade titles and updates release on wednesday if I'm not mistaken. I believe 1.7 came out on a Friday though.
The main point I was trying to make is, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. This is an amazing update, so enjoy what you are given.
Thanks the right attitude. This update has a lot in it. Some are only posting about what they think should be in it. The rest will come in time. Until then, we'll enjoy what we got!

The reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
the thing here is this is a forum. so people post on here saying what they think and stuff and it gives insite for the company to either choose to read and talk about where to go or not to. the point is its a forum for conversation. the people who get mad at someone for posting his or her thoughts is the one causing the trouble. This was created to talk and discuss the game and so they are. Without all of us saying we wish we had this or that they would have to spend money to figure out what we want and need. Just like any other company. The forum is the best thing a company can do if they are wanting to make their product better and make themselves more money. I know 4J does read threw this board and bookmark topics to bring up with their staff and stuff since ihave seen it. So lets calm down and keep it as a forum. Now with that said rant away but not to harsh...

I don't know what your saying here lol but maybe.... Don't bring a bucket to a well and expect it to fill up with water just cause you want it to. crazy I know
I have given up on map size increase, but I really wanted those Jungles and the structures with it. Minecraft has become boring, but I believe the update will add a little excitement to it especially with the End.
It is time for us to get a major update though. I am talking Jungles, the new structures, Emeralds, villager professions, the new mobs like Withers, Witches, Evil Villagers (whatever they are called), villagers having kids, Cats, Red Stone Lights, etc. I know we are never going to get caught up with the PC verison, but we are falling further behind.
I think they said that silk touch collecting ice is going to be added. Also remember they said on TU8 there is a few secret things they've added that isnt in the log
So I guess you're saying spawn eggs, different colored wood, different slabs and a bunch of other goodies that I find will be useful in my creative world won't apply to those who play in creative?
I play on both kinds of maps and though the End doesn't excite me as much as it does my boyfriend or his friends, I'm still pleased with the other things they've added with it and I'm glad just to see the next step all together.
It's one step closer to things that will appeal to people who complain about updates being too slow or who don't consider it to be 'enough' on a game you're getting free updates for.
Where Can I check out the games you've coded?

I agree totally....It must be frustrating for those who play different platforms but in my own case each update is like Christmas

(Update gets released 2 seconds later a thread is made) wonder when the next update is coming out (thread is immediately closed)
(Several more similar threads are made)
Rinse and repeat
I live where your not.
That's the full log. They don't just release half a change log..
Yeah i would be happy... If i played survival.
Well yes, but there could be a few things not on it, but nothing major
