I'm confused... What bothers you? The fact that people clear out large amounts of land in their worlds?

Its Mindcrack, they usually have like efficiency 1000000000 everything lol

See as how that was on the PC, it was probably done in seconds using MCEdit or something.

On the Xbox 360, if you had enchanted tools and 8 people, it probably wouldn't take very long.

it took me only a few hours to flatten a mountain block by block. if you can get into a routine you can clear out land easily, especially if you listen to music or a podcast or listen to tv while you do it. Another thing that helps clearing land is . you could flatten the entire land down a few blocks and then build a floor above with a false bottom. Clearing land has something thats been done in MC since the alpha version. its nothing new. The biggest challenge for clearing out land is motivating yourself to start and not stop in the middle. Hope this helped

Edit: The area cleared out in the video above is very small. I built my base that is 120 block radius circle above water.
