No. You glitch through the TNT. Also works with glowstone.
I tried it with both TNT and Glowstone but it does not show much, perhaps I'm doing it wrong - I'll go and look on YouTube.
Thanks people, I appreciate your help.
I just dig a hole straight down (at least 10 blocks usually), put a piece of glowstone a block or two above my head, then throw Ender Pearls at it...might take a few tries, but once you're inside the block, you'll have a nice 360 degree view. It's simpler than the TNT/piston method. Also, it helps to go into crouch mode as soon as you hit the right spot, that way you can move around a tiny bit without falling back into the hole.
Noob Question!!! I've never heard of this and will try it out. What are the benefits of this? Can you see different ores, slimes, or the stronghold? Is this considered a glitch? I don't know anything about eyes of ender so I'm not sure if this is a glitch or just the way the eyes work.

With Xray You can see areas that have been lit up. You can see dark caves.. and Mobs if they're in caves that are lit up.. No, ores not really.. And Eyes of ender you just throw them and they float in the general direction of a End portal.... if there is none.. they just drop straight to the ground..

It works with any transparent block that has a full 1 meter3 hitbox. Pretty much just a glitch that exploits the fact that the player and mobs cannot suffocate while within a transparent block. You could probably use leaves or ice or glass if you wanted. Not entirely sure, as those blocks actually are graphically transparent, translucent in the case of ice blocks. It would make for an interesting effect when using leaves if you could only see through blocks by viewing the reverse side of an opaque texture...
Currently this method is useless, but once we can control mine carts by moving the joystick, a superior method over the piston tnt/glowstone method is to create a circular track that allows one to move around with a xray view of the area in a complete 360 degree view of the area.
I've tried various different methods to control minecart speeds using pulse timers and what not to limit minecart speeds so this method would actually work on xbox but hasn't been able to get it to work on xbox yet. The xray view works, but sadly xbox minecarts just arn't up to par with PC yet. To test this simply create a small circular track and over-top of the track place glowstone, place the cart and enter it.
This works best at bedrock level as it gives complete 100% coverage of the map or at least most of it. I can't wait us to be able to control minecarts while in them to come to xbox, for more reasons then just this.

How do I go about being able to see underground like the xray does?
thanks.
Would this not cause damage to my health if in survival mode?

Make sure no redstone, buttons, or levers are touching the TNT. They will ignite it when activated.
TNT must be set to OFF
