Hello everybody. As you may know, the TU9 update is right around the corner. They're in cert testing, which means people are testing out this update before they release it!
The question is, are any of you preparing for this update and The End?!?
I am! So far, i got myself 26 diamonds(enough for a full suit of diamond armor), and enchanted sword that has Sharpness III, Knockback II, and Looting II, a bow that has Infinite I, Flame I, and Power IV, aswell as a diamond pick with Fortune III, Efficiency IV, and Unbreaking III. I already found the End Portal, and connected it with a railway to it! I will eventually enchant my diamond armor!
and then you start to make you way to the stronghold where your end portal is located. On the way there a creeper ambushes you, explodes, you die. The end.

I didn't realise end portals were in the game yet so I stopped looking for them. I also thought id need to start a new game when TU9 came out, so if this is not the case then its good news for me!!
Depends when you made your world. If you made it before TU7, I believe, then it wont be in your world. But if its after that update, then yes, there is one. But you can't place eye of enders yet.
I am starting to collect leather for item frames, as for the end I have had my single player survival map for about two months, my strip mining has earned me almost two stacks of diamond! I have fully enchanted tools and almost fully enchanted armor.
As for going to the end this is what I would recommend:
1 enchanted diamond sword
Full set of enchanted armor(diamond if possible)
1 enchanted bow(power and infinity are ideal)
Food(obviously)
Healing potions
Diamond pick axe
Now to the non-conventional items:
1 diamond shovel
1 or two stacks of snow blocks(these can be used to make your way to the top of the towers, then you can use the diamond shovel to get back down quickly
I am waiting for the update considering most of my worlds hat a dud for the nether, and no warts spawned.
As for the end, I might build a cobblestone hut and use it as cover.

I'm pretty sure that the dragon destroys blocks other than obsidian, bedrock, and end stone. The hut idea wouldn't work.

Lol - sounds about right for my luck!
I have recently acquired my last piece of enchanted diamond armor and am busy brewing healing potions. I did have a full set of iron armor; but became concerned whether the dragon's acid breath might corrode iron armor.
I have an as yet unused enchanted bow (inifinity I and Power IV) and a somewhat used Sharpness IV diamond sword safely stowed away and an Unbreaking III diamond pickaxe.
I still don't know how the heck were supposed to get back from the end! and I wonder if we will get enderchests? I hope so
Ender chests? Not in this update.
But once we kill the Ender dragon he'll die, roll credits, and then there'll be a portal in the end that will spawn and allow us back into the overworld.
I think I will just use the new blocks/slabs of wood to make better builds. Wasn't all to excited about end since I played it before in PC... (wasn't to excited then either lol) Just looking at how to make my creations better with some new color schemes. And possibly twirling my fingers as I wait for jungles and stuff. Lol (be waiting for a long time no doubt)

Oh well... I'm sure I'll find a use for the iron armor set eventually. I was sort of hoping that maybe the dragon's own breath could be used to dissolve the cages around the crystals.
Is it confirmed you won't have to make a new world in order to have the end? My buddies and I made our world after 1.8 which I think had the enchanting table and brewing stand correct? Would really suck if we had to remake. We've done so much and have been preparing for The End.

If you've already found your end portal, it will be ready to work in TU9

Erm. After the last update? Try throwing around a few ender eyes and see if they fly anywhere. If they don't then you don't have an End portal frame, if they do there's an end portal frame somewhere and you can go find it

Just starting to strip mine so I gotta see how that goes.

the acid is for show apparently

There is no way it's for looks if it seems like it's fight pattern has changed in order to accompany the acid. It's gonna do something.
