I'm personally afraid to start a new world for a mega-build like a city, because I don't want my world getting messed up by the biome code change whenever they need to add a new biome to the game. Because they're re-adding beaches to the code, the codes are going to get messed up and it's going to snow in deserts and rain in tundras, swamp biomes are going to get moved around, and areas that were very green will be dead and yellow.
And because they're probably not adding jungles to this update, they're going to have to change the biome code again to add jungles at a later date (if at all), further deterring me from starting the mega-build I want to start.
Does anybody have this issue, or is it just me being picky about my terrain/weather?
I was spared in my TU6 world when I biome shift occured.
The worst that happened was a desert island I had already decimated froze over; other than that I had at worst 7 blocks of grass on a shoreline turn into desert.
I kind of like the shifts, though. You'd be amazed at what a desert forest looks like....
meh for my main minecraft level from 1.3 beta like 50 years ago it feels like it's not THAT bad but yae desert forests are "amazing" and i've found this one tool to fix most of the raining in tundras issue
I recently went back to the first world I built and was dismayed to find that my desert with pyramid turned cold and the fountains froze. Torches fixed the fountains and luckily I didn't have snow. You could build things that wont be affected by weather or I had heard of people building inside glass domes.
Nope.
Starting a new world Is fun.
Mega build or not. I'd rather not keep a world for 4-6 updates and having every tool/item possible.
There's no fun to having everything you need.
That's why I either
[A] Make Multiple worlds
or
[B] Make one main world Until an update comes out
The closer we get to an update the less I play. If I could go back I would have not bought the game until it was complete. If anything sours my disposition about this game it's the update situation.
I feel the exact same way. I keep hopping from seed to seed, afraid to put too much time into any single seed because I don't want to work for days/weeks/months on something that may be completely ruined by future updates. It's like biome roulette. I have some pretty massive builds in my superflat world, but...it's superflat. It's not the same thing as building in a proper seed with mountains and whatnot.
I'm pretty sure I read somwhere that they will be adding the option to reset the biomes. I can't remember where though. I might have not even been a reliable source but I think it was. If it ever does happen it will most likely be TU10.

I heard the same thing. I can't remember either, but I think it was reputable; it wouldn't have stuck with me for so long otherwise...
I'm not afraid to play at all. Heck, I welcome biome change. I'd love to be able to tweak things as the biomes change, I never got the chance to as I bought the game after most of the biome-changing updates happened. It seems like a nice challenge to me, and would keep me coming back to a map just to see what it looks like.

Exactly the reason why I haven't played MC, or been on the forums since Decemberish.
Biome changes suck. Hate it when worlds get messed up. I love starting new survival worlds, as it brings back the survival aspect of the game where it's difficult for like the first 2 days.. . .
I personally just create a new world after every update for the time being. At the same time i just enjoy survival and rarely do massive builds or crazy structures.
And because they're probably not adding jungles to this update, they're going to have to change the biome code again to add jungles at a later date (if at all), further deterring me from starting the mega-build I want to start.

It better not be, or I'll be disappoint.

. . . I have about 20+ saved worlds though.
