I love Minecraft to death, but update 9 is taking way to long. It shouldnt be hard to update minecraft to ver. 9. If it is easy for others to mod Minecraft X360E by taking the files from pc, adding to their flash drive, and add it to their xbox... shouldnt it be easy to update minecraft to that version? I understand that have to add "The End' and extend the hight limit, plus extra features that were on pc... but my friend could do more than half of that. The only thing he cant use are spawn eggs, go to the end, and build past the hight limit. Why isn't the update coming out this month? That is a huge dissapointment to me and many other people.
First off, it's 4j studios that updates Minecraft for xbox, and secondly, Microsoft doesn't allow updates as frequently as the PC (which has few actual regulations to Minecraft whatsoever), which means any update released by 4j studios has to be near perfect. Otherwise people would be struggling with horrible bugs until the next update. And this time around, since they're making a disc version with TU9 on it, the update must have as few bugs as possible, which is the main reason it's taking so long.
I don't even know what to say to the OP without insulting his knowledge. The title itself should just be enough to lock this thread. Not to mention the part where he mentions that his friend can mod his xbox..

It's only March 20th. That leaves 11 days left this month. They could easily put it into Cert Testing and have it out by March 31st.
thats exactly what i was thinking. they said they almost be done with cert testing and then they will tell us a day. i say it could possibly come on the 31 or april 3

Until the patch is out: "WHERE IS IT?! WHY ARE YOU TAKING SO LONG!?!?!"
After the patch is out: "THIS THING IS SO BUGGY! WHY DIDN'T YOU TEST IT MORE?!"
Having worked with software development companies for many years, I can tell you that creating a program or product is not like, say, crafting a chair for a carpenter. A carpenter can tell you precisely how long that job's going to take, and he'll be accurate probably to the minute.
It would be nice if we could do the same for programming: "this patch will take four weeks. Exactly four weeks."
Well you CAN, but you're setting yourself up for some bad PR when you don't deliver on the date. Programming has all kinds of issues that you don't foresee. Sometimes there's a game crashing bug that NOBODY understands how to fix, and its many, many coffee-sucking hours of banging your head against the wall. There's platform issues that aren't panning out like they should. Plus, remember -- Microsoft has to review it and make sure it's up to their standards for XBLA, and they probably have a backlog.
I have personally seen things that change us from "ready to deliver in 24 hours" to "we're gonna need another month to fix this" in the bat of an eye.
Because it's taking a while does not mean 4J is lazy. Actually the opposite may be true. They may be working their butts off with 12 hour days to fix issues.
Have patience, and have faith that they'll get it to us when its ready and not before.

Minutes after Title Update 9 comes out, I can guarantee that you'll see numerous threads on the forum asking "When does the next update come out?"
