I was also very surprised when 4J made the default "off" rather than "on."
I believe that was because there was an insanely huge backlash. People disliked it so much that the community pretty much decided it's initial setting when starting a world.
Sometimes I wish I could handle it to give it a try with the mobs; but I just can't. It's given me an intense headache every single time I've tried. I'm very grateful for the option to turn it off and I'm still playing the game as a result; but I was also very surprised when 4J made the default "off" rather than "on."
I've never seen this fog. Sounds cool. I don't recall seeing any options for it though. Fog in wooded bioms would be cool as well.
when in survival go to bedrock. paus the game. go to options. find the graphics then u can turn it on or off

so im guessing you stoped playing for a VERY VERY long time. the bedrock fog was in the newest update. if you go to graphics you can toggle it on or off
