I see a problem developing when it comes to this game and the release of features. The problem comes from the world size. I think the best way to describe my concerns is by giving an example:
So today I get on and after watching a bunch of minecraft youtube videos I am inspired to create a new world for myself on survival. I realize a few minutes in that... what if this world doesnt have an end portal? Then it pops into my head... what if there's no nether fortess, no blaze rods, no nether wart? Does this map even have enough of each biome? Spawners?............. So next I have the idea to create a world on creative, ill use ender eyes to try and see if there is an end portal possibilty and then make a portal and try to find blazes. Meanwhile hoping that the world that has those things will be visually appealing (hoping for the world type with some floating mountains). 20 minutes of searching later and I havent found what I want, and I feel that by pre exploring the entire map I am already ruining my survival experience.
In order to make a survival world with all features to fully experience the game ill have to reroll many times and scour the landscape for a few key features. Without an infinate world like on pc i honestly just feel limited. AND heres the kicker--- its just going to get harder as new things get added such as jungle biome etc. Now i realize that it has been said that xbox cannot handle infinate worlds, but to experience the game on survival and not have hours of work lost when you finally find that end portal with a side missing- we need it. If not, the world actually has to be larger.
Spark notes:
Its hard to play survival without missing features like end portal/blazes on this small size map we currently have offered to us. Its going to get worse as features are added. In order to commit to a map and put hours of work (as in work i mean fun because i love the game) in, you first have to make sure youre not going to get burned looking for something end game.
Go play on the PC then. No one is forcing you to play on the Xbox. I have started many worlds since TU8 and played them... all of them have had an end portal, fortress, and blaze spawners and a good mix of biomes.
I'm pretty sure there's code in the game to make sure you get a little bit of everything at the very least. I KNOW there's code that assures that there'll be Netherwart, netherfortress and blaze spawners and by the next update (TU9) there'll be a way to reset your Nether.
And the End portal in my current survival world is a single room (There is a stronghold in the area) which is basically kind of floating inside of a ravine, it's a regular end portal room, I just needed to get a thing of water to get up to it as the end portal was cut off from the rest of the stronghold.
I know how you feel. I feel the same way. What they should do is figure out a way to force the end portal in your world to generate. If you don't have it there should be a way to delete a chunk then place it there or create another space in the world to make it spawn. I don't know if that's possible but I hope it is.
I feel the same way, although I do think the End Portal has to spawn; like the Nether Fortress, Nether Wart, and Blaze Spawners. There is no coding in the game, however, that makes every biome generate.

Really? Hmm I thought there was. I got more or less every biome minus Mushroom and I just assumed I had a mushroom biome somewhere in my smallish ocean lol
That is what I heard when the 1.8 came out. Some of the maps I generate are missing certain biomes. Try generating a few maps and see if it will work or not lol

So far I have only had 1 world that didn't have nether warts... So hopefully by TU9 they have ironed that problem out. And the same goes for the portal room for the end. I have had 1 world that didn't have one of those either. So it is not a guarantee although a very tiny chance that the worlds will be missing those.
Actually the way seeds work is only a chance for each biome. After all we still get water maps often enough... and sometimes maps that are almost solid of 1 biome type. Seems winter has the upper hand in generation as much as oceans it seems. At least in my experience... But for the most part I seem to get some pretty balanced maps, or at least 50% of them have all biomes (give or take a mooshroom one)... But that is me and my experience with the random generation.
And to what the OP is on about... I actually like the size of the world, as I would get sooo lost in the wilderness the first day it might slip my mind to write coordinates down of my lil' base, if I ever find it again that is...><
You think this is bad? Go play Dwarf Fortress, where it's literally impossible to embark in an area with even half of the biomes in the game. Man.. I've had to bring up DF a lot lately... Anyway, so what if you don't have an End portal? That just means your game will be a bit shorter on that world. Have your fun with it and generate a new one. You will eventually get the terrain features you want, and probably extend the enjoyment of the game.

amazingly unproductive. thanks

I'd stick to watching xbox videos.
Those PC ones will mess you up.
