I've only gone up to 101 with bottles... could be 256 for all we know but then someone else mentioned 600 something, although unsure if that was a gest or not... hm...
not that any of this matters since it is better to enchant at 30 since that is the maximum level to enchant with. That and it is a lot more efficient since the xp gain goes up exponentially it seems...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
i was curious to this, so created an XP shower using 10 dispensers, a pressure pad and simple circuit to pulse the dispensers.well after refilling them a few times and reaching level 120 something, i gave up. too boring when i have things to build and redstone to experiment with! but if anyone wants to find the level cap for themselves and has the patience to sit and wait, then refill, then wait somemore, i am willing to build you an XP shower (it really is very simple, but if you don't use redstone much i can make it for you), then you can tell us all your findings and be eternally praised for your patience and resolve in the name of discovery. at least until someone makes a new post showing us something new and shiny anyway lol

Me and Nose_Job whipped one up in creative with 18 dispensers in about 10 min (though once activated, i lagged for over 3 min until i got back to real time, which is WAY longer than it seems when you're lagging hardcore. I was on his world though... I may test this sometime over the upcomming weekend if i get bored enough... 120 dispensers hooked up to a pressure plate should be enough (30 per side, rows of 10) to reach a decent level (unless my 360 decides to seizure and freeze, which is a large possibility)
Thats what I was thinking too...but then I just realized if I put a rubber band on the trigger and keep throwing them at the ground it will just keep going since in creative mode they don't deplete...now I can watch tv and mess around online while it constantly goes. Maybe I'll take a nap and check on it later lol
I found this on the wiki and know it pertains to the pc version but wondering if it doesn't pertain to the 360 as well... if so 32,767 would be the highest.
If you gain too many experience points (such as a trillion through server commands), the experience bar will disappear altogether as well as your level on your HUD. This appears to occur around level 32,767 (the largest value representable as a 16-bit signed integer).
Update: level 350 and calling it quits here... taking forever just to do each level and I actually wanna play the game..not stare at it while it slowly counts lol
I admire your patience, lol. The last time I tried, I only made it to like 50 or something. I gave up at that point. I normally have higher patience than that, but it's just so boring.
Yeah I couldn't handle not playing and just watching that.. so I decided to make 4 minecart stations linked together using CNB's setup for each station.

I'm gonna put it this way. No person whom plays survival will ever have to worry about not being able to collect XP. You have more than you will EVER need.

He is right however. On the PC, the limit is very high. Not sure if it would be the same on the Xbox 360 Edition.
And where is that in the 360 edition?
Anyhow, since we can't do that, it's essentially non-existant.
I gave up at 111, which even with bottles took far too long to reach.

yes but this is just an attempt to see what or if the max level is since noone seems to really know for sure.

Lol I'll cry... taken so long to get to 203 so far... takes more time to reload the dispensers then anything...lot of lag from them all going off.
