If you listen to Metal; What is your preferred genre or band to listen to while crafting?
Summoning is by far the best in my opinion. It has the right atmosphere for Minecraft and not because it's Tolkein related.
If you haven't heard them check out their latest album Oath Bound. Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame is a good album for Minecraft as well, but Oath Bound is amazing. To use an overused term: Epic.
Emperor and Burzum are great Minecraft listening too.
I've only mentioned Black Metal bands because I feel alot from this genre has the right feel for Minecraft.
I'm sure there are plenty of Metalheads (or whatever term you want to use) who play Minecraft. If not then something's wrong.
You should check out the thread "Metal Heads of Minecraft" where you will find a lot more like minded folks. Me, I'm a bit different from most of the metal elitists you see around. Generally, you have the extreme metal bunch clinging onto Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, etc. and refuse to listen to anything with the "core" suffix. Then you have the teeny boppers who think of classic death metal like one would the oldies, they listen to their angsty metalcore/deathcore bands like Bring Me the Horizon, Devil Wears Prada, and whatnot.
Personally, I appreciate all genres of metal. Most deathcore is horrible, this is very much true, but there are some good bands around. Whitechapel is good, And Hell Followed With, and Rings of Saturn's new album, Dingir, is the most perfect metal album I have ever heard, according to my tastes. Lately I've been listening to a lot of mathcore, namely PsyOpus' last album, Odd Sense; retardedly technical. I also picked up the last album from The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza; another mathcore band that will be dearly missed. On the polar opposite end of the extreme metal spectrum, I've been listening to more slamdeath as well. "Forging the Gods" is a ludicrously heavy new release from the German slam band, Provocation. A must-have for anyone who enjoys gorilla-like music laden with breakdowns (slamz) and bass drops.
People listening to metal...and then there's me listening to ponies. ._.
That itself is uncommon, as I tend to play with music off because the game has a little more realism without music following me around everywhere....
I must admit I am a bit of an elitist, though not as much as many of my friends and many people I know.
I listen to more musical genres other than Metal more than I used to when I was younger and more gung-ho about Metal (or "Extreme Metal"). Though even then I listened to a fair variety of music.
I must say I'm not a big fan of a lot of bands that may fall in a category that contains the wore "core". But oh well.
I do like Sexcrement and Dying Fetus. Too slamy for many of my tr00 friends hah.
But I have been playing on survival lately so I have to keep my ears open for mobs, water and lava flows.
