So, I been collecting music disks for a while now, and I decided I would build a music disk farm. The only problem is I don't know how to build one. If anyone can link me to a tutorial or give me suggestions, that would be awesome.
P.S Don't be a wise guy and tell me to go into creative mode or poop like that.
um as far as i know discs dont grow on minecraft you could just put them in jukeboxs and pretend your farming otherwise just get some wheat or something
I recommend just making a basic mob spawner (Look on youtube for tutorials) and if the mobs start to fill up they'll start killing eachother, i myself have 6 chests of disks using this method

That sounds good, but I would like something more efficient.
First, find a Skeleton dungeon, and build a trap so that its skeletons get dropped into a hole with one block that they can shoot out of. Then build a mob spawn box that will funnel mobs into an identical hole on the other side of the room. Every time a creeper falls in, move near the creeper (not too near, for obvious reasons) and when the skeletons try to shoot you, dodge so it hits the creeper. Repeat till its dead. I'm not sure how you would do it more efficiently than that without spawn eggs.
I have heard many different methods but I can say that the 6 piston trap is the easiest to build and use. Works great on xbox. with a friend helping me load creepers we had 3+ copies of every disc in maybe two dozen nights (in-game time).

i think I will use the design, but does anyone know any automatic designs that don't require spawn eggs?
it doesn't require spawn eggs he is just demonstrating it that way. I would suggest one person stands on top of it while they other drags back creepers. If you do this alone don't forget that if you get too far from your trapped skeleton he will despawn.
As for automatic disc farms i'm pretty sure the short answer is no. I have seen some semi-auto designs but nothing less complicated and more efficient than this. As far as I know there is nothing that will just reliably produce discs without you having to do anything.
That is the one I use and it works great. I have 11/12 of the discs. Only thing I recommend is extending the "middle" area by 1 extra block, I was having issues with the creeper blowing up from the skeleton being too close, but extending the middle section 1 block fixed it so they weren't close enough to blow up anymore.
THE easiest way is a gravity grinder.. that has a drop height where it leaves the mobs at one hit kill... surround it in glass and when there are creepers and skeletons in there jump around so the skelly tries to shoot you and hits a creeper.. You will have more discs than you'll know what to do with... there is no way that is more efficient...Believe me, you'll be throwing discs in lava just because of how many you'll have.

This. The added bonus is you can still use it for an xp / mob drop grinder when you've finished collecting disks.
I used my 1st gravity grinder to acquire all the music disks. Make sure its enough of a drop to get mobs down to one-hit kills. Wait for skeleton and creeper to drop (weed out any zombies and spiders that get mixed in to improve efficiency). Run up to the kill hole that's closest to the creeper, and back away quickly, Skeleton will nearly always fire an arrow killing the creeper. I started trashing disks after I had four copies of each.
There are easier ways then the above tutorial but you will need to have some basic knowledge of redstone, and also water streams. If you do i'll outline the process.
First and formost is to dig a hostile mob elevator and system, ethos has execlent tutorials on this. I'm too tiered to look them up right now.
Now that you have your hostile mob system functioal, your next goal is to begin weeding them out, start first by filtering out your spiders and killing them via lava, this is easy done as they are the only mobs that are 1 block high and thus some clever block and water placement should leave you with only creepers, zombies and skeletons left.
Next goal is to drop the remaining mobs into a small chamber that has a 'trap' door below that you can trigger to move the creepers to wherever your going to kill them. (more on this later). The goal here is simply to expose your mobs to sunlight killing off all but creepers. Once your ready pull a leaver opening the floor to move creepers to the kill station.
Along the path where your moving your mobs to the small chamber you should place 'collection' points, the goal here is to separate individual mobs into 1x1 holding cell this allows you to separate skeletons and 'eject' back all those you don't want. I have around 9 holding cells, which is more or less the water cell pushes the mob into a 1x1 side shoot once they enter this area a piston closes trapping the mob. This cell has 2 leavers, 1 to 'push' the mob back into the stream they came in, and another that opens the floor dropping the mob into another water stream that carries him to a 'shooting' bay. which is directly across from where the creepers are being held.
Your now ready for the third and final area, the shooting bay and chamber where the creepers are being held, now remember skeletons will shoot at approximately 7 blocks, you probably want to setup a piston that will enable you to open a spot so that the skeletons can see you and fire at you which you will have the creepers between you and them.
Its alot of work to setup i realize, but once you do, this farm is quite capable of generating a massive amount of records safely, and its alot of fun manipulating mobs in such a way.
I apologize if this is confusing to read as i haven't slept in like 18 hours now and am quite tiered. I'll try to post some pics of my setup soon as i can.
Something I forgot to mention, the 'kill zone' should contain water in case creepers do explode to minimize explosion, and also you should 'damage' creepers first. I use cacuts that growing along the stream i carry them in on, i believe its 5 to 6 bumps that i expose them to, can't quite remember off hand, this ensures a 1 shot skeleton kill.

When the simplest most effective solution has already been given why would you even take the time to post "your method".
It's convoluted and pointless... Sorry not to be a jerk. But I would imagine your method would simply confuse others new to the game..

I could at like 4central. From my Galaxy Tab.
.. In the meantime I'll try to look up a video of one, and see if I can explain.. the rest.. Its super easy!

This is the type I use.. I found a video.. I dont recommend the pistons or the "funnel" pilar thing.. just let them free fall.. make the bottom area wider so its like a 10*10 room or something..and then 2 high glass surrounding it.. So where they can get out but you can still jump in their line of vision.. . Mine has a floor with glass and opening to allow me to hit them for XP purposes... and a water release system so that all the drops come to me.. But if you simply jump around the thing the skeletons will kill everything and each other in the process.. NEVER had a creeper blow up due to a skeleton shot. since One shot kills them. and yeah Have fun with your own setup...Keep in mind that video is on a flat world.. in a real world caves would have to be pretty lit up to produce that much.. But! once you light up some caves.. that thing will be overflowing with mobs.. Mine is built above an ocean. So it helps with the spawn rates.

I guess its a matter of play style and opinion but i bet I can use the 6 piston trap and have all 12 discs before you finish building your gravity grinder. I don't see how building a large structure just so you can have discs to throw in lava serves any purpose. Use the simple trap spend an evening collecting discs and move onto something else IMHO.

No way sir. You have to lure them to that trap.... first the skeleton and then each individual creeper...
Second the gravity doubles as an XP/Drop farm..Plus the gravity one works during the daytime...
I can get all discs in minutes.. Even if if the randomness factor kicks in and would affect us both.. With the mass of discs that I would get I would get each Unique disc first.. ( All of this assuming there is no Spawn Eggs in our comparisons )

Everybody's a comedian today, huh?
Obviously he knows this, he means a farm to get skeletons to kill creepers. Morons like this annoy me..
