So playing around with redstone I get you can make buttons that act like a switch using (I think) the XOR or maybe its the NOR gate. Forget which is which... however can you make a switch that acts like a button? flip the switch once and it opens a door temporarily then closes it. Thanks for any help in advance.
yes Ive seen some complicated solutions involving waaaay too many repeaters. I know an easier way. You can set a predetermined amount of time.. still several repeaters but not as many as that way where its like a staircase of repeaters. Ill get you a pic in a couple mins.

Sitting here in creative playing with ideas trying to get it myself but just can't seem to nail it. Thanks
That link is to a simulation of what you need to do the repeaters are set on FULL delay and you can add more if need be along that line.. Or My GT is on the left add me and I can show you... My son is almost home from his haircut, so I have about 15 mins of free time.. Good luck!

I got it to work from that link. I did get mine working like 2 minutes before you posted the link lol. mine is a little different.. uses a sticky piston. I noticed on both though you gotta reset the switch back before you can get it to work again which isn't a big deal. Just interesting stuff here. Thanks again.

I believe they do.. they kinda show as semi shadowed in a way. Though honestly I haven't messed with layers on that simulator much yet.... on a 2D plane it would probably get confusing lol. I just mess with that at work trying to figure out simple stuff.

Still can't get the layer thing to work.. I can only put stuff on the bottom layer.. anytime I go up a layer and try to put something down nothing happens.
K got it going on my version. Gotta click the horizontal view and go up a few layers till you see the door then just click on the switch and it works that way too.
I am not familiar with the schematic thing you guys are using but I think the circuit you are looking for is a dual edge trigger (or single edge as per your needs).
yea, supposed to be a sticky piston, though it was lol
I also noticed tampering with the delays on your method makes it switch too quick. You had it setup at its best speed which is still somewhat fast... but hey it works! lol The video method that 3mpureE posted works pretty effeciently too but takes up more space.

That site is pretty awesome... do the different layers on it not work yet? I tried to put stuff on a lower layer and its not showing it on the grid.
Nvm i figured it out

Ya it was harder to understand what was going on at first but think I got the hang of it now. Should be fun to play with.
How did you change the repeater delay? Everytime I click on it the thing just rotates in the box.
Nevermind figured it out lol
Also noticed you got a normal piston in there which only allows you to do it once. Switching that with the sticky makes it repeatable on the 2nd flip.

I modified yours to this and it works pretty good.
