But here's the thing. Xbox will always have Halo and Gears of War, but Sony will always have LittleBigPlanet, and Ratchet and Clank to themselves. I got an Xbox 360 because I war really in to Halo at the time. A main thing is exclusive games. You are right that it would be better on both consoles though.
If they put it on PlayStation then I'd definitely buy it again (and I already have the PC, Xbox and iPad versions...). Oh, and I'd be indescribably happy if it were a PS4 launch title.
I doubt the reason they aren't keen on Wii U is due to "lower specs" - it has vastly greater graphical resources than PS3 or 360, but a reportedly slightly weaker CPU.
The real reason would relate to: low install base of Wii U, aspects of Nintendo's business relationship with third parties being unpalatable, a possible lack of interest from Nintendo.
I doubt the current install base for the Wii U is even more than the number of MCX360E sales to date. If MCX360E sales represent about 5% of the Xbox 360 install base, why bother with porting it to Wii U at this point? For a few hundred thousand sales?
Yes, it is the most powerful thing as of now, but come Christmas, it will only be more powerful than the OUYA, due to Xbox 720 (Durango) and PS4. There is another massive thing we need to talk about here. If any of you get Game informer, page 67 of the march edition, you will see that the next box will not have any game features, and may not even play games. I'm pretty sure that they said they talked to Micro$oft staff about it. If what they said is true, then PS4 will be the only system it can be for. If what they said is true, then Micro$oft will epicly fail due to the crap they will expect people to buy.
* IF MS doesn't renew their deal, Mojang is free to stay with 4J/xbox OR also make a PS version.
* IF it comes out on PS, it will sell well initially (to the PS-only crowd), but after that the sales won't increase like some are thinking- they'll stay the same, just split between the two systems. I don't see "more money"- I see ½ as much for each system. Not good.
* IF 4J does the PS version, I'd think it would be the same as the xbox.
* IF Mojang decides to have someone else other than 4J do the PS version then I'd think the two versions could be different and both consoles/developers go off each in different directions. At that point there'd be so many versions of MC out there, no one would be happy! (Much less able keep up with them).
* "Exclusives" is what makes you buy a system. If there were no exclusives, you'd only need one console. You'd get the best one, and the others would go out of business for lack of sales.
If you don't believe me, go look at the frigging magazine for yourselves! GOD! Look at gameinformer issue 240, page 67. I should be face palming at whoever posted that.
Lol, it's kinda silly but frustrating that if they'd o planned it for PS3 in the first place, I would've got the Nexus 7 tablet, because I only asked for an XBox360 to play Minecraft and Skyrim (Of course, a few other games came along the way since I had to live with an XBox and a PS3) and it was either the Nx7 or the Xbox360, so it just kinda bothers me without any effort. I didn't think about the situation when I was reading this, the minor frustration just came up, but look on the bright side, I have two of the hottest bad-ass consoles in the world and some awesome gaems including Minecraft already!
I'm going to take a guess that what you've seen is the rumour that Microsoft will put out two "versions" of the Nextbox: one a proper games console, the other a pared-down, Kinect-enabled set-top box type thing that will be more focused on their multimedia stuff. If its true, it's essentially a totally different product. Saying that one is the other is like saying an iPhone is an iPod.
If that is the rumour you've seen, then you've misunderstood it. A short bit of critical thinking would let you see how unlikely it is that Microsoft would simply drop gaming after investing billions in it and continuing to pump hundreds of millions into platform staples like Halo 4, the first of a new trilogy, or all the infrastructure set up for Xbox Live, or their scores of third-party relationships.
First off, it is more like saying my Xbox is a computer, and please consider they have windows to release the game on, if they drop game consoles.
If these systems both had minecraft, it would be awesome. Infinite worlds, nah, how about limited, but so overwhelmingly big that we could never use all of it. The maps could be so big that our current world could be a pixel on the map. The map coloring could work as if the majority of that area. If it is water' that pixel is blue.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.
