I don't really mind. Why should I? Or you? Or him? Lol I'm not a selfish child that would lash out about something as insignificant as this. I don't think anybody would.

You must not come around here too often. This forum is filled with users fuming with rage over such trivial matters. Come back and scroll through the discussion section once the next update is released. A large portion of the threads will be people spouting on about how incompetent the staff is at 4j Studios. Society, for the most part, (particularly in the U.S. or other "more civilized" nations) has became a group of people who want everything done for them, and in the way they want it done. They will whine endlessly when they are not satisfied.
PS3 can't handle Minecraft. It has 256 Mb of ram, but it has to allocate that to the game, so it needs some for the OS. PS3 would have Minecraft for it, if it had adequate hardware.
GUESS WHAT who cares. All I know is we have to pay for skins that should be free. We get no texture packs, Cant hold severs with 20 people. No server list shall I keep going

This isn't quite the case...
Sound:
PS3: Stereo. Can support 5.1-channel Dolby Digital (HDMI), 7.1-channel LPCM
Xbox 360: Dolby Pro-Logic II. Can support 5.1 channel Dolby Digital.
Graphics:
PS3: Nvidia RSX graphics processor, with 25g MB XDR main memory and 256 GDDR3 video memory.
Xbox 360: ATI Xenos with 10 MB embedded eDRAM and 512 MG DDR3 video ram.
Processor:
PS3: It uses IBM designed Cell microprocessor with 3.2 GHz cell w/7 SPEs 2.0 TFLOPS.
Xbox 360: It has a G5 PowerPC processor by IBM with a configuration of 3.2 GHz, W/3 cores 1.0 TFLOPS
The systems are pretty similar, but for power, the PS3 has the better hardware. The PlayStation surly has the power and the means to run the game.
Again...I hope people do not get their hopes up, no real information as to Microsoft's and Mojang's exclusive contract runs out. It could be tomorrow, it could be a month from now, or it could be a few weeks. Until there is more info, we shouldn't be getting too excited.

*facepalm* Go find a company that is going to pay you to make products they're going to give away for free. By the way, they've been working on texture packs, it's just not top priority. Does anybody even notice the updates we get every month or two?
I had to create an account just to respond to this thread. I never understood why I always see people calling Minecraft a "kid's game", but after reading through this, I can definitely see why people think this game is played by kids. The amount of ignorance being put on display in this thread is mind-boggling.
* Let's put this in perspective. Some are reveling in the fact that xbox MC has sold 5 million copies(!). But that's only 5 million copies. COD has sold over 40 million, and the Halos over 50 million. http://en.wikipedia....s#Xbox_360Yes, it's popular… but it ain't that popular. Sure, there's a few thousand vocal MC diehards here, but you have to look at the Big Picture. Yep, 5 million copies- but how many of those are still playing MC? Half, if that?
* It's been said that we have the "right" for it to be on every system so everyone can enjoy it. Uh huh. Put another way, let's get it on every system, totally saturate the market, and that way everyone will get bored of it much faster. Don't let supply outstrip demand or you'll kill it off.
*It's been out for a year. Every PC and xbox player that wanted it has it already. IF it came out on another system, what makes everyone think it will have the same sales numbers? There's no reason to buy it for the PS if you already have it for the xbox. The only people who would buy it is those PC players who have a PS only, or those "I want to play it on whatever system I feel like at the moment" nuts. It would be darn lucky to sell 2 million copies for the PS.
* Get real. The 360 and PS3 are dead… and it doesn't matter what the "installed base" is. ANY manufacturer/producer stops making the old model and pushes the new one as soon as it becomes available. (The only games coming out for the current systems are those that have been in works for years already.) MS and Sony will do everything in their power to get you to buy the new system- and every game developer will try to get you to buy their "new and improved" game. Just like the original xbox and PS, they'll succeed in selling you a new system, too. To think that MC will won't be radically changed/improved for the new system(s) is silly. Like it or not, it must change or die a slow death, replaced by the much better games coming down the pike.
This thread will make some funny reading a year from now.
And you are the worst... because the worst kind of ignorant person is the one who truly thinks they're more intelligent than everyone else.
*You're comparing a full retail game to a downloadable title. Try comparing apples to apples. Try comparing Minecraft to any downloadable title in the history of XBLA. It beats them all. It's the best selling XBLA title EVER. How many are still playing it? What difference does it make? The discussion is about releasing the game to a new market who, for the most part, hasn't played it yet. Why would it make any difference at all if 100% of the people that purchased it on XBLA aren't still playing it a year later?
*Supply and demand? Do you think it sold as well as it did on Xbox because people said "Well, I have no interest in this game at all, but Playstation can't have it so I need to get it!" How about.... no. If you want to talk supply and demand, Playstation users have been (quite vocally) demanding this game since the Xbox version was announced. They supply the game to meet that demand, and they make money. It's really very simple.
*Apparently you think that 100% of the people that own a Playstation also own an Xbox 360 or game on the PC? "The only people who would buy it is those PC players who have a PS only, or those 'I want to play it on whatever system I feel like at the moment' nuts." Really? That's it? How about the people who play on PS3 but don't play on Xbox or PC? But let's say you're right and it "only" sells 2 million... that's 2 million units sold of a game that only needs to be ported to work on the PS3's system. All the really hard work porting it from Java has been done. 2 million units would still be a win.
*No, neither console is dead.... and once again you don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. PS3 and the 360 came out in 2005. You know what the best selling console game of 2006 was? Madden '07 for PS2. In fact, I believe the PS2 outsold the 360 and the PS3 for a couple years after those consoles launched. Please tell me where you get this idea that once a new console is so much as announced, the current gen is suddenly "dead" and nobody will develop or purchase games for it anymore? Because history has proven just the opposite. Get real.
Also, to whoever said that Sony "made the PS3 hard to develop for because they wanted to be different"... you also are completely clueless and should not talk about things you know nothing about. The "Cell" processor was unique and made to be more powerful by running differently than your standard PC chipset. It was actually very advanced and efficient, but the unfortunate side effect was that being so different from the standard processing system most developers were used to developing for made the PS3 difficult to work with.

Yes, I know. It is obvious that the PS3 has better hardware. If it did not, it would constantly freeze like the Xbox. When it comes to Minecraft, other than the ram, the PS3 is good to go, but it does not have the kind of ram it takes to run Minecraft. The system has 256 MB or ram, vs. the Xbox 360's 512 MB of ram. the Xbox allocates 256 to the games. The PS3 can't allocate 256 MB of ram, because that is all it has, and it needs some for the OS. Ram is the most important part here, because they have similar hardware. It is that simple. One can handle it, the other can not. They would have to make a completely different game in order to have it on PS3. I can only assume that if the PS3 had the ram it takes to run the game, it would have it's own edition of it.

That I did not know, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Thank you for pointing this stuff out. People are not thinking and researching before they post, like I am. KioriBug was right about the PS3 hardware. They did research before they posted. No one can say all parts inside the consoles off the top of their head.
Look, minecraft is the top of the xbla charts. Not only that, but playstation is microsoft's competition. Contracts run out, but I'm pretty sure microsoft will make another exclusive contract with them
Playstation and Xbox could have merged because of financial troubles before the exclusive deal ends. Who knows? It could expire next year, or next 5 years.
Most likely, Microsoft will shove more money in Mojangs face and have them sign another contract to keep the game as a exclusive. Honestly, if I we're Microsoft and I had a game selling 10,000 copies a day even if it's a 20$ one I would still want it a exclusive because, Hello? Pay more money, get even more money. But if the game does come to PS3 or some other system I'm sure the company developing it would have exclusive features that differentiate the game from all the other versions like 4J plan to do after 1.2. They already are developing the End with a exclusive ender acid attack for the dragon and iron bars around 2 health pillars.
Minecraft coming to a disc? Preposterous! The game could not be constantly updated like it is. Yes, there can be patches, but all of the features would already be there.
They can't take Minecraft over to playstation, and there's a reason for that. 4j signed a contract with microsoft, and they are not allowed to take it over to the playstation. The xbox and the pc are the only places that minecraft is allowed to be, for if 4j made minecraft for playstation, they would break the contract with microsoft.
I don't care really care about OMG XBOX VS PS3 and all that crap. Good for them on getting this game, and good for Monjang for all the money they are going to get.

Edit: You are right, but can that handle Minecraft? That is the question.
