So I find a great ravine/abandoned mine shaft combo and just walking through with my sword at the ready. I told myself I wasn't going to leave until I found some melon seeds. Well after about an hour and a half I finally come across not one, but two chest! Both of which contain the said seeds. Now on my way out, what happens? Creeper attack from above, absolutly destorying me and all my little goodies. The god damn explosion opened up a lava pit and everything fell in... So I guess it's time to fine another shaft, but I'll be damned if I have to search that long again just for some melons.... I would love to nuke a damn creeper village if they had one. Anyone else have any other stories like this they would like to share and get off their backs?

Found some diamonds earlier in a shaft and I used my fortune 3-unbreaking 3- efficency 4 Pickaxe to get em. Well, On the way out I got mauled by like 5 cave spiders and a skeleton and could not find my stuff. I just ended up reloading my save, but it annoyed me quite a bit.
Getting back to the original topic, one time I was working on constructing a passage from one end of my Nether to the other using cobblestone. One of my friends offered to help, came into my world, took a set of fresh iron armor and tools, and of course tons of cobble, and went to keep working on it. In less than a minute he got shot by a Ghast and fell into the ocean of lava.
Not anything too terrible, but when I join his world he's always on me making sure I only stick things in a furnace with coal when I'm putting in an amount divisible by eight, etc. etc. making sure I don't waste anything, so I of course I wasn't too thrilled to hear him apologizing lightly for the many stacks of cobble and iron ingots I lost when I get told off if I don't smelt things at maximum efficiency.
Once i get leather armor on a new world and enchantments it gets better. my first few sets of leather armor get 1 or 2 ex enchantments so i'll have at least protection 1. in the begining i save most xp for sword, tools, bow. But even with all that a couple of days ago i'm caving and a creeper drops down a water fall and kills me. I didn't hear him at all because of the water noise.
The first mine shaft I found was around a ravine. I was at the edge and accidentally fell to my death. Respawned at my village, it was night. On way back I died again.....all my stuff(diamond pick, diamond sword, wood, etc was gone from first fall. It happens. Part of the fun!
I don't have any great loss story (at least that has stuck with me), but what I find annoying is when a creeper gets me near my house, or even if he doesn't get me still makes a mess of the area. Then while I'm trying to fill in the crater he made, another one comes up behind me and makes an even larger mess.
Haha, there is a video on Youtube where a creeper gets butt-assaulted... That might appease your hate, it's so funny, I'll send you the link
Anyways, once on a friends world we ventured out to make a quarry in the "just right location. We lit thde place up minimally and set ourselves a little base nearby. Usually at least one of us was at the quarry so no mobs spawned but at one moment we were both in the base shack... When we came back creepers, skellies, zombies, and endermans were teeming inside our quarry... We went down to try and rid them but died instantly...
When we respawned we were in our original spawn point WAY AWAY from the quarry and we didn't have our maps anymore... We just gave up after that, mainly because we were too lazy to search the world for the quarry,,,
I spent an hour or so creating a section of my first adventure map (now an unimplemented area) that involved TNT.
I missed a few blocks that needed blast-proof and anihilated the entire area.
When I went to exit, I accidentally exited and saved.
I covered the hole and never returned to that area...ever.

I have literally wall myself off when I find chests and diamonds just to make sure nothing can get to me while I'm looting.

Retired StaffSounds like a slower version of creative mode, without the benefit of flying.
