I like the look of things when they match real world laws of physics. So bridges have supports that rest on stone at the water line etc. So does your world look like it could be in Architectural Digest or a fantasy portrait.
Minecraft worlds have a different gravity to ours so dont need as much support to hold structures up, hence why huge mountains are held up by a single block lol
Kinda made me laugh.. I think the OP is talking about how people build in minecraft. I like to make my houses look as much realistic as possible,As in it is something i could imagine in real life! Makes builds look a little better to me at least.
There are still some things that just dont Look good no matter what you do...Like my mob farm above my house, lol
I try to make my builds sorta real, but it is somewhat hard when we don't have the proper tool all the time. (Yes... I am talking about upside down stairs/slabs) Lol True those come soon or later, but I like the ability to place stairs to make arches or nice window frames. Or a column/pillar that holds the second floor of a 2 story house. Plus it gives more of a 3D view then a flat side(s) of a square house. So yes, I do like to build things that have a function and structure.
I think the only thing in my city that'd be structurally sound would be my bridge. Seriously, add gravity to anything else and it'd probably just fall.
I think every one of my houses would cave in on itself. Something tells me that gravity wouldn't agree with my 100 story house with no roof supports lol.
And that is a rule of Minecraft physics. Certain blocks can float, thus making Minecraft physics.
Minecraft law of physics #1
An object that is at rest will stay at rest unless an external force acts upon it. Blocks; excluding sand and gravel; exist in a quantum state existing in multiple dimensions simutaneously. Once a block is placed it is also located in a 5th visually cloaked dimension that 'holds' the block in place.
Avatars, sheep, sand blocks etc. do not exist in the 5th quantum state and follow typical rules of gravity similar to those of the earth seed.
But yet, when a block is floating in the air, it stays floating
Try that with Sand or Gravel
And I said that Minecraft has it's OWN rules. It means the game can do whatever developers want it to do, such as making solid blocks float in the air, while some blocks like sand or gravel are influenced by gravity.

Define "Physics rules"
Minecraft doesnt appear to have any physical laws, including gravity
but yet when I jump I come back down
But yet, when a block is floating in the air, it stays floating
Pretty much the same thing for me, I hate anything that's floating. In redstone, however... well thats another story XD

Structural engineers do their best to bring that to life...
