Anything Special about It?
Did you make your nether before they fixed the Nether Fortress problem or after?
If you did something special with your nether and your nether doesn't have a fortress In It, Will you restart yours for the nether fortress In TU9
This thread mainly is about whats In your nether.
Mines Isn't really anything special but I did fix my Ghast problem...Those low life live no neck having SoBs...
I Put lava at the top of my nether so It falls down like a waterfall. Now Picture that with 30+, Ghast always run into them. I also have a couple of minecart systems that take me to glowstone hot spots and a nice place to pick up some lava
The nether in my one-chest world is special. The portal I built right near the village I'm refurbishing puts you just outside the blaze spawner trap I built and the staircase with nether wart is only a short distance away inside the fortress. The netherrack is fairly dense around large sections of the fort, meaning that I can snipe off ghasts with a bow and have their drops fall within easy access from the fortress itself. Of course, there is a price to be paid. Beyond that area, getting around it is a real challenge, but I'm working on that.
Fixed the nether fortress problem? LOL! That hasn't happened.
Started a random seed in creative then built a nether portal, so I could check out the nether. It had a fortress, a blaze spawner, netherwart, and blazes and other assorted baddies roaming around.
So I copy the seed and start a survival map. A couple days go by and I decide to venture into the nether in search of loot. No blazes. No blaze spawner. Complete waste of time to scout a seed in creative at this point. Maybe next time they will fix it.

I'm not holding my breath.

I think he is saying he did create a copy of the seed in survival mode. Personally, I haven't had this problem occur since the bug fix update.
However, I just reread the TU8 change log and don't specifically see a fix indicated for structures "going missing" between creative and survival modes. Between TU7 and TU8, it was occurring not only with respect to the nether, but also in the overworld (ref. my vanishing Mineshaft in the tutorial world). I think people just basically assumed that the "guaranteed" generation of a fortress in the nether would have fixed the problem with the difference in generation between creative and survival; but I don't think it has nor do I think 4J indicated that they had fixed it.

I Might start doing this. Check out my world IN creative then remake it in survival. I never did this due to the fact of spoiling but it doesn't sound like a bad idea anymore
First off, It sounds like you have a really good nether spawn. Since your on your 1 chest world why have a looter? Doesn't that take up space.

Its good to check out your landscape to see if you have all the biomes, but don't count on the nether having everything in it.
It didn't really spoil anything for me, since I didn't really search the world thoroughly.

1. Building the blaze spawn trap used up cobblestone that I needed to get rid of to keep from having to store it in my chest.
2. I built the spawner trap in such a way that what it really does is prevent me from encountering blazes in my nether in an uncontrolled setting. That way, if I need 1 blaze rod to brew a potion, I can kill just enough blazes to obtain that 1 rod exactly whenever I want it. No storage required. (I might gather a little extra glowstone dust in the process, but it won't be so much that I won't be able to use it right away in a build).
The one-chest challenge is really causing me to think about the game in a slightly different way. Spawner traps can be used for looting, but they can also be used in a way to obtain pinpoint control over mobs and thereby minimize excess collection of drops.
I covered the ocean in Cobblestone there.
You cannot complain about Ghasts until you fill in an ocean with stone.
I'm also ripping out every Glowstone before I reset it.....

I will most likely reset even though I have fortress and blaze spawner simply because I am outta glowstone thankfully harvested most of it with a silk touch pick.

Wait...you filled a lava ocean and your restarting your nether? How long did that take.
Yea, sure, thanks for that unsubstantiated little tidbit of advice. Next you can tell me about how sheep and cows never despawn from inside a fence.
Aww you're cute. There is no need to explore a world in creative. I have had no problems with a fortress generating in the nether when I use a random seed in survival.

Well if you never had a problem then it must not have ever happened to anyone. That is some supreme logic! Are you a government employee by any chance?
Maybe you should refrain from commenting on things you don't know about. You'll look like less of an idiot. If you've done any reading on this forum, you would know that this is not an uncommon issue. That is why they are fixing it and allowing a nether reset in the next update.

I understand that it happens to a lot of people. I do a lot of reading on this forum. I have tried multiple random survival seeds and had nether fortresses. I don't see why people have to go in creative first to check. That has always been reported as the problem. Just generate a random seed in survival.

I've started several worlds without ever checking the seed in creative and ended up with no nether fortress or no blazes or no birch trees. That was the whole point of checking a seed before investing a great lot of time in it. And your statement that that has always been reported as the problem is completely untrue. It doesn't even make sense.
the world i made right before the last patch came in had no blaze spawners.. had a fortress and netherwart. i got to thinking about updates and checked, sure enough a force for a blaze spawner. so, restarted on the same seed and this time i found 2 blaze spawners in adjascent hallways. best mob grinder i've found. both of these worlds took a lot of cobblestone to explore.
soon after i started a new game on hard and figured out i don't need a diamond pickaxe to get to the nether. you all probably knew that, but it took me a couple hundred hours of gameplay to figure it out. this time it put the portal in the nether fortress wall, close to 2 blaze spawners and 2 netherwart patches.
i often use my nether as a one-way teleportation device.
i wish there were a way to link specific portals.
i always have a lot of ghasts, but i'm not sure i'd want to get rid of them. i like their noises and i like the idea of the nether being a little scary, never knowing when a fireball will thump me into a crater. clever idea with the lava streams on the ceiling.

There is a way, buy you need to spend ALOT of time (with the current portal mechanics) to get them to link.
Only way i found to do it is to have the map in creative (multiple copies of the same seed is optimal, unless you don't mind exiting without saving and trying to remember the exact placement of everything) create your first portal at the co-ords where you want the connection to be, go through, and screenshot the unique features of it. Explore/dig until you reach the open area near the lava ocean (unless you are by it upon teleporting) and mark the landmarks where you come out near the ocean. save and exit.
Load up your second map (or reload if you exited without saving), go to where you wanted the second portal to be, create it, go through, and mark the unique features (if there are any, and the fire patterns (which blocks in what shape) are very useful for this). Explore/dig until you reach the open area near the lava ocean (unless you are by it upon teleporting) and mark the landmarks where you come out near the ocean. save and exit.
In a third map, create a portal in EACH overworld location (the "entrance portal" first) and go into the nether. Travel through the nether and see if you can find the land marks of where the second portal should be. If need be, create a 4th map, and just reverse the portal creations in the over world. This may take you quite a long time, but once you found the area for the 2nd portal, create it in the nether, light it, and when you step out, you should be at the correct portal location.
I've used this technique to create a nether passage to a floating wizards tower in one of my maps. All in all, it took me about 15-18 hours to complete (and about another 1-2 to create the shortest route possible between portals). You can then use the creative maps as a "blueprint" for a survival world.

oh wow!
i'd be interested in seeing your result.. i've just used the simple one-way teleport so far. how long was the passage in the nether?
My word you took the excessive route... the coordinates in the nether actually correspond in a way to those of the over world. 1 block in the nether = 3 blocks in the over world. Just divide your over world coordinates by 3 and match them up. Super simple.
