the only reason pc is always better is because they are constantly updated performance wise where consoles have to keep most of it the same as the very first one that ships. such as the arcade. the 360 games bein released now have be able to run on those consoles
If I had to guess, the 360 successor will probably have backward compatability, at least with the Xbox Live Arcade games. It wouldn't suprise me if they did something similar to what the Nintendo 3ds did about the downloadable games from the DSi shop. And hopefully, Xbox Live accounds will carry over.
No, I'm just admitting that i have a life outside this forum, And i have no time for time wasters. If your tactics were to bore me out of the debate then congragulations, You won. Give yourself a pat on the back. Just don't overuse that copy and paste laddie...
LOL.... Run and tell if you like. The idea you put forth is goofy.
^^^ He has a point. Nothing you said makes sense. Not to mention you obviously spent a considerable amount of time absorbing speculation from random internet articles. Some life you've got there. At least I have the decency to admit I don't have a life, instead of pretending otherwise. That's what happens when you get older, you find a job and only have enough free time for video games or some other arbitrary hobby. I don't recall copying and pasting anything in this entire thread. I would love to see the proof that I did so, unless it's the same kind of evidence you've used to back up your side of the previous debate. (a.k.a. none)
I think we all know 720 will come in time for everybody to have it by Christmas. Bill Gates knows how to rake in the dough ( and pity parents to buy their kids one)
I'm actually pleased with the Xbox 360. Far Cry 3, PC and Xbox 360 graphics looked exactly the same. It's good that they waited this long, because it has gotten to the point where the next Xbox will outdo your computer if you paid anything 1000 or under for a quarter of the price. Minecraft would run with ease on it, even if four times the build limit was added. It has 8 GB of ram, 8 core processor, and at least four gb of ram would be available to developers, and six cores. The PC edition has to somehow fit the game into 256 MB of ram, but this version will have to fit it into 4 GB or ram. We will have way more stuff and it might take over, leaving PC edition in the dust. If some rumors are right, this will happen and Xbox edition will rise, and PC edition will fall. All of my PC edition fan boy friends will look like fools in a year or two. Infinite worlds obviously...
It's not like their is a giant modding community on PC. And since when did the PC version need to take 256 MB of RAM only? Sometimes it takes up a whole GB. And RAM =/= Performance. PC will advance right after the Xbox 720 is released. Consoles will always be outdated in order to maintain their simplicity.
I'm pretty sure Microsoft will get 4J to abandon the 360 so customers will get the 720 just for Minecraft.
It's confusing because we're taking about 2 different things here:
1- Backward Compatibility.
Playing old (360) games on the new system. Why should you be able to? Isn't this like putting a Toyota 4 cylinder engine in a Ferrari? There's really no reason to. You've already got a 360 already, or, if you don't, they'll be dirt cheap in a few months anyway (MS has already announced their "Spring" bundle sale). IF you get a new system it will be for 1) all the other new games for it, or 2) because MC has come up with a new (improved) version that will only run on the new system. I don't see why it has to be backwards compatible (why it has to be 'dumbed down' to run 'old' games). They didn't for the xbox>360, they shouldn't for this one. Even if they did, what are you going to do with your 360? Try to sell it? Lotza luck.
Me? I know I'll eventually have to get a new system if I want to play the new games. But I don't have to rush out and get one the first day, do I?
2- Used game compatibility.
Load up used games from disk to your console. I can understand why console makers would want to block this. Every time a game is sold by someone to someone (either through Gamestop or "friends"), the game developers don't get a dime. In other words, instead of 5 people buying the game, one buys it and 'shares' it with 4 other people.
One way the game makers have been combating this is with the hated DRM. (If you can't lock the disk somehow, lock the game once it's installed.)
But I think the main reason for blocking used games is piracy. Now you may hate it because you can't "borrow" or "share" games anymore with/from your friends, but tough. You want the game on your console, you buy it.
Two other random thoughts:
* Remember the uproar over having to buy a $20 game? Bet there won't be near the uproar over having to buy a $400 system!
* Remember the uproar over having to have an HDTV? Guess what? You'll have to have an HDTV for the new system. Might as well plan on upgrading your internet connection (if you need to) while you're at it.
Well from what I have seen online both Microsoft & Sony seem to be pushing for this coded game thing were each new game shall have a verification code that can only be linked to one console! This is turn will destroy the second hand game industry and is just a entire money scam.
Well considering Sony have said they dont plan for any such thing half the statement is already false isnt it.
Theres no need in getting personal, If you can't control your rage then don't respond...This debate has been driven off topic by a mudslinging match. Something I'm not interested in fueling. I'll be the bigger man and walk away...
o_o... You just launched a passive aggressive attack at me with the last post, and now you're above that sort of behavior? Good lord man, every time I read one of your posts you're either changing your story or contradicting yourself. And now that you found someone who doesn't give up out of frustration, you find a way to weasel out of the debate, without admitting defeat, and attempting to make your opponent look like the bad guy. Don't try to act noble, you're only fooling yourself.
Moral of the story: Don't buy into rumors; nobody knows anything about Microsoft's next console except those who are/were a part of its conception. And they probably won't tell you anything, for fear of losing their jobs, and legal repercussion.
Your not exactly perfect yourself, You enjoy belittling people with your spell checks and over dramatic choice of words. I change my opinion everyday, It depends on what mood you catch me in, So yes i will contradict myself and change my opinion.
I voiced my opinion on the xbox rumors and those opinions are still the same, Why can't we talk about the rumors? Or are we aloud to talk about the rumors, Just not aloud to beleive them.
There is no winners or losers in this debate, MY opinion is my opinion. Thats like saying my favourite color is wrong...
I know I'm not perfect, but I only enjoy making condescending comments about people when I feel they're the aggressor. I find it to be more effective than "fight me IRL, bro. do u even lift?!" Maybe I mistook your post, but it seemed as if you were attacking me for spending too much time on the forums. (Which I do, but that's not the point.) Up until that moment, I was enjoying the argument on various speculations. I like to watch theories unfold and collapse, it doesn't matter who proposes them, this is how speculation evolves into something more/less plausible. I over-dramatize nothing, I take pride in my ability to create colorful and descriptive paragraphs, this is just a large vocabulary acquired through experience with various forums. You should hear me talk in real life or on Xbox LIVE, you would swear I was mentally handicapped.
Also, your favorite color is definitely incorrect. Royal purple rules all.
Anyway, you can talk about rumors all you want, even believe them. It's just a general rule not to buy into them, I never do unless I see enough evidence to the point it's practically a fact. Rumors can be more dangerous than just the speculation on a next-gen console that we're discussing. For example, my friend somehow heard that the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary was all a big hoax that never happened... I have no clue who would start such a rumor, but they are a very sick individual. Look, you can believe whatever you want, but rumors are more often lies than they are truth. I know it doesn't apply to this specific topic, but keep in mind that they really can be harmful and hurt innocent people.
Sweet, all i know is the console wont be called Xbox 720,the name doesnt make sense. If it is called that ill eat my hat.
Sitting infront of a computer feels like work to me too.
I have been thinking what will happen to XBL for the 360,id hate to see it just scrapped,Ive spent quite abit of money on my account and i wont be too happy if they arent playable because the new system comes out.Backwards capability would be nice,so we can keep our accounts and downloads.
Thank you. I'm not the only one that thinks "Xbox 720" is stupid.
* You don't need infinite worlds. If all you want to do is wander around gawking at the scenery you aren't playing the game. It's kinda pointless because one biome is just like the last one- you've seen one desert or forest, you've seen them all. It's just "infinite biome repeating"- it's not like there's anything new.
* Of course you'll have to buy all your games all over again. You do with each new version of any game anyway. (And these will be new and improved versions). You won't want to play your "old" games anymore anyway.
* What difference does it make if you have to have a internet connection to play offline? I don't know about you, but my xbox (and PS3, and WiiU) all hook to the internet automatically when I turn them on. I'm gonna make a special effort to disconnect from the internet just so I can play a game "offline"? An internet connection that automatically hooks up anyway is a "problem"?
* I hate Kinect. That said, rumors are that Kinect will have to be connected and set up for the new xbox. But that doesn't mean that you have to actually use it. It just means that it will be ready to go if you decide to play a game that requires (or you want to use it). Second, the upgraded Kinect (2.0) will be included with every new xbox- you don't have to purchase it separately. Finally, since everyone with the new system will have Kinect, games will have more "consistency". Game designers don't have to worry about if the players have Kinect or not. They're free to design games using Kinect, or controller, or both (and the user gets to decide. You like "options", right?) So those are bad things??
Could not have said these better myself.
Infinite worlds -- For the life of me I do not understand people saying the worlds are too small. I'd like the height to be bumped up and the range of view to be better... but size? It's PLENTY. Really. Maybe its because I have always restarted with a new patch, but I never come close to improving even 25% of any given world, let alone mine the massive underground. How much size do you really need?? Right now it's fine. And again, its not like biome slices are going to offer anything the other ones do not.
Rebuying Games -- If I sold you a stereo for your Honda, and you buy a Lamborghini, do you expect me to give you another stereo? Of course not. Anyone who plays console games knows that it is rare, if ever, a game title is released for a legacy system. The best you can hope for is backwards compatibility, and those games will certainly all be orphans at that point.
Kinect -- I have NEVER understood why the Kinect didn't bomb spectacularly. It's novel, sure, but its VERY unresponsive, it awkward, and frankly it is far, far, far more comfortable to use a controller than to mime things out and look like a moron.
Who cares what the name is, If i say xbox 720 you know what i'm talking about...
The new gen consoles seem like a huge disappointment. For example you need to buy all your games new, You need internet connection to play offline, Kinect is mandatory, Basically they want to force us into doing what they want us to do...
Well i say No, PC race here i come...The world of free games and plenty of mods.
And these things are confirmed by Microsoft? No, now you sound ignorant for stating none true facts.

Still true even on page 4.
