I've not seen any information that says that the new Xbox won't be backwards compatible. When you think about it not have backwards compatibility is really a sales killer. With the price of games being what they are no one is going to buy a new console and a bunch of games to start off. They rely on the fact that users will be able to play their existing games to make the decision to upgrade an easier one. They may drop support for 1st gen XBox games but not supporting 360 games would absolutely kill their sales.
Now I have seen references to both platforms making changes that would make playing used games impossible which may be causing some confusion. Old games vs Used games it could be easy to blur those lines. The article at : http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1825118/xbox_720_to_block_used_games_eidos_head.html talks about using watermarks to verify that a disc is authenticated for a console and also explains the need for the console to be connected to the Internet at all times.
Of course we should take all of this with a grain or better yet a shaker of salt until M$ makes some sort of official announcement. Which if you listen to rumors may be as soon as the end of April.
"they make a good console" Are you being serious. We've been using the same peice of crap for the last seven years. The PC gaming community is laughing at us and our lame 512Mb ram...It's embarrassing.
what, exactly, do you expect from a console? back when the 360/ps3 came out 512Mb of ram was pretty good. Sure, it seems paltry by todays standard, but thats to be expected at the end of a consoles life cycle...
I disagree. I rather enjoy the thrill of reaching the top of a hill and "discovering" a beautiful valley, or a crazy floating mountain, or a huge lava-filled ravine. Building is fun, but so is exploring. Perhaps you're the one who's not fully playing the game.
The fact remains that there is nothing stopping you from starting an infinite number of new worlds and exploring all that infinite new terrain to your heart's connect. It's all just a click or two away. The only thing you cannot do is carry your old inventory with you... and it really doesn't take all that much to collect enough blocks to start exploring... a few blocks of wood, some cobblestone, some torches, some iron... make a iron pick and and iron sword... and you should be good to go in any mode.
EA sports added online passes to most of their games, Are they affected? Companys like Gamestation, Game, and Gamestop are all making a ton of money by scamming kids and giving them next to nothing for their games. Devs hate this, And all these companys will end up like blockbuster...
Online passes are an inconvenience, and a lot of companies utilize them now, Ubisoft comes to mind. If someone sees that a used game's online pass is already used, it is annoying, they will complain, but they will probably buy it if they like the game itself. (It's still cheaper than a fresh copy anyway.) If someone without internet sees a console which can only be played online, do you really think they're going to buy it just to sit it on a shelf and look at it? That is not an inconvenience, it's an absolute deal-breaker that makes the console useless to a rather large demographic. Online passes were created as another way for a dev to make money, though it is a dirty tactic. Now explain to me how releasing an online-only console will do anything other than lose the producers money.
As for inability to read used game DVDs, that's probably a load as well. I recognize profitable benefit, but it's nowhere near practical. A read-only disc generally holds more data than writable versions. The only way I could see implementing this "feature" would be by writing permissions to the disc itself, binding it to your device ID, similar to how licenses work for gamesave files and arcade games.
Kinect being mandatory is the only thing that sounds slightly plausible, and I wouldn't even mind if it was true. Though it probably won't be, and I wouldn't use the thing anyway. Corporations release consoles to compete with eachother. Nintendo platforms will always be cheaper, and of lesser quality, so it's pretty much just Sony and Microsoft butting heads with eachother. In case you haven't noticed, there is always a cheaper watered-down version of every console, hence the Xbox 360 arcade model. That would be pretty difficult to do if Kinect was necessary.

You just answered your own inquiry. Microsoft made this console 7 1/2 years ago, and it's still selling. Sounds like a pretty good product to me. The PC gaming community will always laugh at consoles, even newly released, they're elitists, that's what they do. The only reason the 7th generation held back the advancement of gaming is because of devices like the Kinect and Playstation's Move. The Xbox 360 is still one of the most efficient electronic devices you can currently find. For the resources it is comprised of, it's insanely powerful. You seem to have a very morphed idea of what makes a console good. It seems, to you, a device has to be brand new to be considered "good" or even significant. Do you consider Babbage's Difference Engine to be a 163 year old piece of crap? Is Alan Turing's work irrelevant just because he's been dead for 60+ years?
Can't you keep it short, I don't have the time to read paragraphs of information, Sorry
Don't participate in a debate if you're not prepared for what that entails. I'm guessing this statement is your way to avoid admitting defeat, while not requiring you to conjure up more crazy ideas to defend your even crazier speculations.

April seems quite a long distance between their announcement and the PS4 Especially if they are wanting to sell it in competition which if they dont could cause them issues who knows. But then as Sony have said there is nothing about being unable to use preowned games I am doubting MS will follow suit as that would seem to be a bad sales tactic.

Sony have stated that there's nothing to block used games in an interview with (I think) IGN. Microsoft will probably follow suit...

Think about the transition between Xbox and Xbox 360. Backwards compatability, while it was included, was massively cut down. The Xbox 360 only supports MAYBE 100 original Xbox games. 150, tops. Out of approximately 1000 games. That's only 10%! The PS1 - PS2 transition supported ALL PS1 games (to my knowledge). And some of the more popular games weren't even included in that list. What's to say the next version of the Xbox won't do the same exact thing?
You did kind of write a lot. I couldnt be arsed to read it lol
That's a lot? It's actually pretty short compared to mega-posts I've seen from others, and written myself. That's what forums are all about. If you want to discuss a topic one sentence at a time, socialize with the real world or join a chat room. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have read it while skimming through a thread, depending on my mood. If it was directed at me though, that's a completely different scenario.
I'm actually pleased with the Xbox 360. Far Cry 3, PC and Xbox 360 graphics looked exactly the same. It's good that they waited this long, because it has gotten to the point where the next Xbox will outdo your computer if you paid anything 1000 or under for a quarter of the price. Minecraft would run with ease on it, even if four times the build limit was added. It has 8 GB of ram, 8 core processor, and at least four gb of ram would be available to developers, and six cores. The PC edition has to somehow fit the game into 256 MB of ram, but this version will have to fit it into 4 GB or ram. We will have way more stuff and it might take over, leaving PC edition in the dust. If some rumors are right, this will happen and Xbox edition will rise, and PC edition will fall. All of my PC edition fan boy friends will look like fools in a year or two. Infinite worlds obviously...

Who cares what the name is, If i say xbox 720 you know what i'm talking about...
The new gen consoles seem like a huge disappointment. For example you need to buy all your games new, You need internet connection to play offline, Kinect is mandatory, Basically they want to force us into doing what they want us to do...
Well i say No, PC race here i come...The world of free games and plenty of mods.
u say all this as if it has been confirmed....which it hasnt microsoft hasnt given the slightest hint to a new console all we have is a bunch of bullcrap rumers which no one should belive cause they are just rumers after all
Sweet, all i know is the console wont be called Xbox 720,the name doesnt make sense. If it is called that ill eat my hat.
Sitting infront of a computer feels like work to me too.
I have been thinking what will happen to XBL for the 360,id hate to see it just scrapped,Ive spent quite abit of money on my account and i wont be too happy if they arent playable because the new system comes out.Backwards capability would be nice,so we can keep our accounts and downloads.
Nothing's going to happen to XBL. Why would Microsoft waste money on creating an entirely new network for people to connect to when they already have a perfectly good one? Not to mention, I doubt they would make everyone purchase a brand new account because it would drive people towards purchasing the PS4 instead.

You add to the fact that PS4 has confirmed that they wont require you to purchase games new or to have an internet connection and you can bet that the next xbox wont either because it would be a very bad business decision on their part.

You could link your source..... http://societyandreligion.com/2013/02/minecraft-xbox-720-ps4-leave-pc-xbox-360-version-dust/ since you lifted from it.

LOL.... Run and tell if you like. The idea you put forth is goofy.
