Not all griefing is for bad reasons, sometimes is on a raiding server were everyone griefs, most of the time its for making people angry and/or sad. But not all the time.
I would say most players believe that the person they are greifing deserves it.
Being nice can reduce getting your world greifed in a huge way.
Think about it. You kick randoms all the time. Many of them will hold grudges and try to greif you later when they finally get in your game.
People do it for fun.
That's why I have a fake survival world I made where people do what they want and laugh when auto-save activates.
I then bash them in the face with a good ol' backed-up file. -w-

thats probably what you do but i never kick them as long as they are on of my friends. also i always have invite only so yeah
80% of griefers are sqeakers because they have parents who let xbox babysit them

i use to have griefers. theres this one guy who killed me then just started breaking my house down bit by bit. the house never looked the same as it was allot of glass and i didnt want to rebuild it.another time i was doing some stuff i turn around and there is lava all over my lime green wool floor. plus under the wool was a cave so i couldn't fix any of it had to exit without saving.

I could be called a "griefer" of sorts, mainly i prefer to do random things to my friends when they go away for a while (98% of the time in creative) and i move them to a completely different part of the map (always unoccupied by theirs or my build), enclose them in a cobblestone room (layered with TNT outside), a single lever, and i usually flood the room with chucks (because it's neither a chicken or a duck) and just wait until they return and listen to them saying "WTF, where the hell am I?", all the while i muted my mic and am laughing my ass off. Then they pull the lever and now there's a sizable hole in the world. (if it's survival, i just omit the TNT)
i have never griefed b4.i dont see the point except. you get kicked and people want revenge

I found this thread entertaining to me for some odd reason
Most griefers are in fact, little kids. Some of them just want to see the world burn. Most of them seem to do it for s and giggles, others however do it so they can have their own little thread on a forum, such as this one, of people showing their hatred of these little kids. When in fact, all you need to do to prevent people from ting on your stuff is listed below:
1) Don't be a butthole
2) Don't be a butthole
3) Don't be a butthole
and finally four
4) Share your Oreos
That my fellow Minecraft users, is how to prevent griefers.

I agree with that statement. Usually people who are complete jerks to others only get what some people like to call "karma". Most of the time the griefee deserves such harsh punishment, but other times the griefee just ran into a bad seed and got destroyed so you got to watch who you trust Sharing your Oreos is how I managed to prevent most of the griefing, some pretty intense stuff . . . . .
As a griefer myself, I do it to see people's misery as they watch there mega creation explode into burning flames.
P.S I take MC too seriously, so when I get trolled, I feel like I need to take my anger out on something, so I grief.
P.S.S Don't start hating on me or start a flame war, because moderators hate that.
when someone try's to argue with me i just act dumb and and comment with something positive. like i had no idea they were trying to insult me. or i end it with a joke

maybe still stuck in the 'me against you' type FPS mentality.
