actually u should use regeneration potions for traps undead mobs are unafected by posion
like zombies and skeletons and i think a spider is considered undead but not creepers i would have to search more about it though. but for undead mobs use regeneration potions not sure why but it hurts them posion does the opposite by healing them.
actually spiders are not undead...So I don't think those would work on them. Oddly if xbox is anything like pc edition, the spiders take damage from poison potions...O_o

For me it's a close tie between fire resist and strength, while fire resist is awesome you don't find too much need for it unless your going to the nether whereas strength can always be useful if you don't have a super powerful sword or bow at your disposal.
Potion of Fire Resistance: I like fighting blazes. While I've noticed I still take damage (o_O), I no longer take continuous damage, allowing me to heal much faster.
Potion of Regeneration: Duh, but it's pretty hard for me to get. Hate having to fight those screaming flying ninnies.
Potion of Swiftness: While I don't use it very often, it's good for getting somewhere fast. Especially if you're willing to combine it with sprinting. Transform into Flash and sprint across your map in the blink of an eye!
I've only used potions a few times. I used a few potions of regeneration when fighting a Wither (I know they're currently only avaliable in the PC version, but it's not out of the question for them to be added ot MCXBLA)
Potion of Fire Resistance is the most useful. Fire and lava can't harm you. All other potions in my opinion doesn't really matter. My number one reason for dying in caves is from lava. Swiftness and Regeneration are the next two best potions in my opinion, they're very useful also. I find poison potions most useful useful for mob grinders. Also, in my opinion, strength really isn't needed unless you want to go on a killing spree or have fun hitting mobs harder.

Say you fall in a lava lake.
A Splash Fire Resist has a better chance of saving you since you don't need to swig it....
Stay fluffy~
