I think I created the world 1 update before they were added, but I never went into the nether till just now. Shouldn't I still have the new nether content?
If so, how do you find the fortresses? My friend and I have been looking for a while and we haven't seen anything.
If you created the world before they were added then you won't have anything.
Otherwise they should be fairly easy to spot as the nether is so small, but sometimes they can be hidden in mountains of netherack, so digging a little can help

From what I've read/heard, when new content is added in title updates you can get stuff in areas of the map that you havent gone to yet (including the nether).

The nether is generated at the time the world is initially created. So yes areas that haven't been generated/explored have a chance of getting new features, but this unfortunately doesn't apply to the nether. Although there is some info released about an option to totally regenerate the nether so that it will have all the features even on older maps. I believe it should be coming in one of the next updates

Crap. Hopefully that's a real thing and it'll be out soon. I don't know that I can do a 3rd new world.

It just looked it up. 4j has confirmed it for the TU9 update on their twitter.
