So, I just started a new world. I spawned on top of a mountain and grabbed the items in the bonus chest, as well as the torches around it and the chest itself. I remembered that I'd forgotten to check the location of the closest swamp biome when I was flying around on Creative scoping out building locations, so I hopped over to my duplicate Creative seed to check. When I loaded my Survival seed again, I turned around to climb down the mountain and discovered a second bonus chest. At first I thought I'd accidentally loaded up the Creative map, where I hadn't bothered to claim the chest, but I checked my inventory and sure enough, there was the first chest (also I had hunger/health bars, so it definitely wasn't the Creative map).

It's a pretty sweet glitch, since now I have twice the amount of starting goodies. Interestingly, the second chest contained different items than the first, so it's not a direct duplicate.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a common glitch or did I just get lucky? I've never seen it happen before, and I've started a LOT of new maps.

This is not a glitch. Minecraft has different spawn spots on one map. So there is 1 chest per a spawn spot
