what is your favorite light source? sunlight kills mobs, lights the whole world and shows off brilliant landscapes but my favorite light source has to be burning netherrack. i like building large pyramids and towers with burning netherrack. there is tons of it in the nether and it's easy to mine. it makes a nice inpenetrable fence when lit and lights up caves when exploring.
I like a nice ceiling high lava flow encased with glass (block or pane, depending on what i feel like using). Now once they add in redstone lamps, all the lava lighting will be gone like a zombie in the sunlight, and i'll be tearing my hair out trying to build hidden redstone wiring in my homes... lol
Glowstones at night time. When you see your house surrounded with nothing but glowstone.... Man it's beautiful ain't it? Or maybe from the mountains gotta love the view the mountains provide us with!
My favorite light source is not in the game yet. Redstone Lanterns.
Beyond that I would say shadows... I like to play with the shadows by using hidden or semi-hidden lighting, or just something that looks about right with what I build.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I would have said lit netherrack, but I always have problems with it setting EVERYTHING on fire. Plus, I don't like the texture of netherrack. So, I said glowstone.
I am loving glowstone for it adds a nice touch to aesthetics. (Even more if outside with bushes) Yet I am looking forward to redstone lamps for I like the feel of them in modern builds. Gives a feeling of saying "Lights off... no body is home".... untill they flip the switch
i can honestly say i've done this, during the day i make a mini forest with saplings and then at nightfall i set fire to it to watch is burn, it's a beautiful sight

Seriously, I just use torches. Don't like the look of pumpkins, and I'm no good at hiding lighting in the walls like some people.
Looks damn nice!
at least now there are two sources; hanging off ceilings and killing blazes.
