Oh god gravel. It would rather mine obsidian than gravel. It takes such a long time to mine through because of the physics in the game. You should be able to break gravel while it is in mid-air, it would make things much easier.
hahahahaha poor gravel 12 dislikes. the sponge has less dislikeks then i expected
I didn't really vote because I don't dislike it, I will only dislike it if they switch to the new texture they have for it on the pc...>< As that looks a lot less like gravel...
Sponge only makes sense just to have something in creative that you can't have in survival. To keep each mode "special" unto itself in a manner of speaking...

Netherrack. There is just so much of it in the nether, it's ugly, and it's a fire hazard no matter what you do with it.
i knew i should of put nether rack on the voting. i knew someone would dislike it

Gravel. It annoys me when I'm digging for diamonds and find a bunch of gravel blocking the whole area.
i hate gravel when im mining because its always slowing me down. but its also a good thing because after a gravel block turns to flint i can place another one because i use the gravel blocks for my secret chest reasons

Okay not sure why people are saying that gravel is a pain just break the bottom block and put a torch down. After this every piece of gravel that is above that one breaks. This also works for sand if anyone was wondering.

Just looking for a good server to call my home can do about anything
i rly dont mind gravel. use the torch trick. the sponge is ugly and even makes a weird spongebob. wolfeuk. i do agree cobblestone looks ugly. i use smooth stone instead.

never said it was a pain, just an annoyance... For me even doing that is still annoying when building underground. I still have to fill in those holes with something other than gravel or sand.... something that doesn't fall back down. It mean more work beyond my original plan, not that it matters much, just a bit of an annoyance to fill in those holes.:D

Gravel is the worst... constantly falling in on you and making caverns larger ( yes I know about the trick by putting a torch under the stack before it falls). Then when you want to collect gravel, you get flint instead. Annoying.
Sponge is extremely useful if you're building in water or you want to push back water temporarily. I loved using it in the PC Alpha Build.
I hate it with such a passion. It ruins caves, underground farms, and if your not paying attention because your half asleep can nearly kill you! The flint aspect is minor to me too, since I usually find a skeleton spawner around somewhere to gather arrows from.... The only use i have for it is if I want to specifically build a cheap looking walkway, or if I need to fill in a lava puddle and don't want to spend the time converting it to obsidian.

yes i already know that but its still a pain

They put it in when there were the old water/lava physics and they haven't removed it because some people like it as decoration.
oh i see

I freaking hate it when I'm mining, and suddently I hit a chunk of Dirt. Since I don't craft shovels that often, I spend a lot of time digging them up.
Shortly after comes Gravel in second place, and everyone alterady explained why Gravel simply sucks.

Never dig up! That's the second rule from Minecraft(first being Never dig down!).
Well never dig those directions unless you know what you are doing... that is my motto on that.

Definitely gravel. When building animal farms, underground bases, or just branch mining, it ALWAYS gets in my way and slows me down. I know about the torch trick and such, but it's just annoying and leads to ugly, uneven caves and rooms. It also leads to wasted resources, because I don't like filling in holes with cobblestone, meaning I have to waste coal, charcoal, etc to make stone so I can fill in the holes. Annoying. Kind of pointless. Like a previous poster, I get most of my arrows from skeletons.
Who needs rules in MC? digging straight down/up makes the game more exciting, like running armor-less into a group of 6 creepers with nothing but a block of dirt as a weapon. Besides, atleast if we dig straight down/up and hit (lava, sand, gravel, -insert other annoying/death causing thing here-) we at least have the option to quit without saving, unlike those poor PC MC'ers...

That's OK. You covered it off with the "Other" category.

I ALWAYS ignore the #2 rule in Minecraft: Never dig up. This is why I hate gravel. Lost my gold and diamonds. I never thought it would happen to me...
