I agree. I'm on hardcore, and its WAY too easy. I got diamonds and emeralds on the third-fifth day (was a three-day mining trip). Plus, the mobs are easy as ****.
You found Emeralds in the Xbox 360 version?
Side note, 1 chest mode seems to defeat the game. I stockpile items, then use them on the building Im working on. If you can only stockpile 3 64 blocks, it'll take forever and a headache to do anything.
To keep the game fun, I'll walk away from my 'base' with nothing but a map in my hand and start over again in a new section of the map. Once you reach a certain point, it is just as good as creative.

It's not one-chest mode, and I would never advocate it becoming a mode of the game. It's an additional challenge you can set for yourself (like the 404 challenge has you never go above-ground after you enter the cave). I did it just to make myself think differently about the game. Rather than stockpiling before starting to build, I found I had to plan my builds ahead of time, plan what I collected more carefully, and then make sure I never stockpiled the stuff, but gathered it only as I reached that stage of the build.
I have a bad habit of setting out collecting materials, before I've even built a home base. On my most recent world, I had collected 30+ stacks of cobblestone, then headed back to build a base. . . .then thought, I don't like the look of cobblestone
(See my Sand castle? thread)
Think I'll take on board some of these challenges though.
The thing is we shouldn't have to set restrictions for ourselves just to get a challenge. I want to be able to use all the resources available to me but still feel as if I can actually be killed.
The game should get a little harder in the next few updates, Mods getting smarter and stronger, Witch, Wither Skeleton, Zombies break wooden doors on hard mode, and the Wither boss. however I still find it easy on hard mode in the updates on the PC. (I NEVER find diamonds so I am always stuck on iron/gold weapons/Armour.)
One mod that made it hard and very fun was a mod that turned your hearts into Legend of Zelda style heart pieces. you only start with three hearts and have to find the others in dungeons/strongholds and crafting them from diamonds and glass. It made made the PC very hard and VERY FUN.
P.S. I played the xbox minecraft first, and i wish that both had the option to turn this on for a more difficult game.

I agree. I've tried various self-imposed challenges (Skyblock, 404, Survival Island, etc.) but it would still be nice for Hard to actually be hard.
The mobs aren't much of a challenge even playing solo, and if you play multiplayer then the enemies don't stand a chance. I wish there was a difficulty setting where the monsters could pose a threat to a small group of players, or even just one well-armored player. The only enemies that provide a real challenge are the Ghasts, and there are WAY TOO FRIKKIN MANY OF THEM to even bother with the Nether unless I need to dart in briefly for Nether Wart.

Part of the resources available to your in this game (the part that makes it different) are the mental challenges and imagination that you can add that can make the experience unique each time you sit down to play. However, if you want the developer to spoon feed you your entire gaming experience just like every other FPS on the market, that's OK too. The continuous addition of new-looking mobs to the game in general is a vicious circle since any of them inevitably get easier as people get more experienced with fighting them.
What I think is missing, then, is a level up as you play longer in a world. Worlds should perhaps start out with only a few types of monsters spawning and then the tougher ones should get introduced after so many Minecraft days/nights with the mob spawning activities increasing so that you're continually fighting more and more of them each night as more and more nights go by in the world. I think all survival worlds should delete themselves after 3 deaths by one player maximum; and on hardcore delete itself after 1 death. The only way to save a world indefinitely should be in creative mode. Oh, and when you die, your inventory should just disappear completely... no retrievals.
You know I could say the same thing about easy mode not being easy enough....><
Don't get me wrong I can handle it on that mode, as there is hardly a difference yet.... And it is the only mode I enjoy playing on beyond just peaceful for just flat out building... Would be nice if both was improved upon. More things to make hard harder, and easy easier...
the only difference between the difficulty levels is how much damage the monsters do. if you don't get hit, then you don't take damage, ergo, it's a non-issue.
As others note, if you play cautiously, then you're always in a secure position, even when advancing your territory. Running out a going "wahoo!" killing creepers with a diamond sword is NOT playing cautiously.
I don't even wear armor or carry a weapon in MC. I simply don't put myself in danger when I build. The monsters are blocked from getting to me, or I run away. It's just that easy.
