I personally make golden apples. Easy to make, as I have at least chest full of gold blocks, plus health regen, high hunger and nourishment value(nourishment is how long the foodbar stays at one spot, other words how much filling the food is)
i sort of am a veg on mc since i have a decent wheat farm and forest by my house. i always build my houses near villages. its a good landmark and they have wheat. and i get apples from trees. i have yet to find melons tho. i only get meat if i find it or desperately need it
Really what it comes down to is saturation for me. When I'm running around the house and village fixing things, I don't mind eating often, so I use melons. in a mine? that's suicide to be eating every couple steps. that's when I break out the meat.
I can one-up the vegetarian idea as I don't eat living or past living things, meaning that while you chomp on your poor murdered melons, wheat products, and apples I'm off not being a murderer, eating rocks.
I'm not a vegetarian in Minecraft, but I don't go willy-nilly killing animals, unless I'm in a particularly dark mood (jk, lol). I do have an animal farm, but it's mostly for wolves, eggs, and, when I can get them, mushroom stew from mooshrooms. I do eat the meat, but I normally don't kill animals when I have around a stack or two of meat. I love to farm, so I tend my crops a lot. My usual is taking about 20 steak, a stack of bread, and a stack of melons.
However, on my multiplayer server for me and my two buds, I'm the cowpocalypse. The end of all things pig. Bane of chickens.
I just kill the derpy looking things. A cow had randomly walked into my house (I assume when I was going to sleep.) and I saw it looking at me with it's derpy looking eyes when I popped out of bed and it MOOOOOOING at me so I had to do what needed to be done, it tasted good though!
Though I hate it when other mobs spawn inside my separate pens for each animal. I'll see a chicken in my Multi coloured Sheep pen. :/
