It would be awesome if someone made a custom map like that for the Xbox. You could not do the void but floating islands built in creative for an adventure map would be awesome!
Falling into the void is supposed to be an instant death even in creative. I'm assuming this is probably why 4j left it out because some would 'void' spawn areas for new players.
Yes, this was done on the PC version, and if I had to guess, I'd say that the creator used a program called "McEdit", removed a couple chunks and built the floating islands in creative.
I'm pretty disappointed that 4j removed the void. I've recreated skyblock in superflat, but it just isn't the same without the void :/
True But people could just use a bucket of water to get below the map...
Apparently only one person can read my post because people are still telling OP that it's a mod and that it can't be recreated on xbox. You won't be able to make a true remake because of no void but if you don't cheat it can be done.

I think falling into the void on Xbox causes the system to freeze. Which is why they got rid of the possibility of that ever happening.
I never said "Mod" and "Xbox" in the same sentence. I Am simply trying to figure out how the map was made.
If It was some kind of Program/Mod so I won't be looking forward to It in the future. From the last couple of post It seems that Its a program that can move landscape so looks like a done deal
There are a few different ways the world you speak of could be accomplished. Like DMSiafu mentioned, they could've used a layer of sand and created a chain reaction of block updates. They could have also had a regular superflat and used World Edit or MCEdit to clear the bottom layers by selecting and replacing them with "air blocks". For the islands, they could have imported them as schematics, used a terrain generation mod of sorts, or used a terraforming tool, like VoxelSniper.

They removed it because falling into the void would cause your console to eventually freeze. I have no clue why they didn't just alter it to inflict damage, like the PC version.
Somebody posted a tutorial on this awhile back. It's not exactly accurate and it would probably take the rest of your life to completely clear the bottom bedrock layer.
