Sorry for posting this but I have to say that with the last 2 updates the creepers are almost impossible to kill without them blowing up now also they never used to sprint what is with that lol plz fix this thanks
hmm... I don't have more trouble with them after the update. It is about the same. They spawn the same amount, they damage the same amount, they explode as easily as they always have.
I do manage to kill them with hit & run tactics. Hit and back off, rinse and repeat. Best doing it in water, as that is the only change that I have noticed since I first started playing. They do hardly any damage when in water, and no environmental damage what so ever. Can not say they are easy to kill, just timely. Timing is every thing when fighting them...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Only problems I've had lately with killing creepers is you have to get WAY out of their detonation range in order for them not to explode. I usually have armor so it doesn't affect me, but it does a number on the lanscape. There's a reason I named one of my NPC villages "Craterville"
I avoid creepers until I have an enchanted sword (knockback). I used to be able to just walk up to them, hit them a few times in rapid succession, and they'd go down. Now I barely get two hits on them before they turn me into Ragnapie.
Anyone know if their timer been sped up? It's like they have a duracel battery up their rear now!

You know, last night I watched old videos XBOX videos on youtube, and its sure seemed to me they exploded slower before. If timing was change, its likely to compensate for enchanted weapons. Sword + Knockback and Bow + Power are the new preferred tools against creapers.
It is very disturbing to be mining a tunnel or gardning and then behind you, hissssss boom. I don't even have time to turn around any more so I just close my eyes and wait for it.
Perhaps they tweeked it a bit too far. (IMHO)

? I don't understand. I don't find them any more difficult at all...but I haven't ratcheted up the difficulty yet on my new world. I was killing them with a vanilla iron sword last night on easy. Now on normal or higher, yeah you need a knockback enchanted sword.
Try enchanting a sword, in this case possibly knockback would work best for you. And just an fyi creepers don't sprint
A diamond sword with the top enchantment is still going to take two hits to do in a Creeper. As posted above, Knockback is essential if you are going to hunt the things.
There's three methods I found effective:
1 - Archery - Just pop them out of range, before they close in. This is the safest way. Just be mindful of your surroundings.
2 - The Double Hit - If you are FAST, you can whack the thing twice before it detonates. But if you don't drop him in 2 seconds, he's gonna blow up and probably take you with him. You'll probably need to practice this a few times before you really get the correct timing. This one is also VERY tricky if you are in a gaggle of monsters.
3 - The Bounceback - Hit him once, have the knockback throw him back a good distance. If you're playing on Easy, it will diffuse his detonation cycle and you can just wait for him to walk back to you and pop him again.
You guy's do know you don't need the knock back enchant to be able to have the effect ATM right? sprinting and hitting a mob auto gives knock back (even with your fists) so it's so simple to hunt them even with a stone sword, get your timing right and they will never explode on you again.
"Thatsssss a very nicsssse dissstancssse between ussss, it would be a shame if sssssome ssssprinted it." Thought I have been doing a lot of creative builds recently, on my non-creative maps I have not knotice them sprinting. But, they blow up faster, and, if there is ever a dark corner that is just a bit too dark in my compound, it is a Creeper I walk into, not a zombie, and BOOM!

Sprint and hit a Creeper and it will fly back a few blocks. Rinse and repeat until dead.

By the time I have a diamond sword, I usually have enough XP to enchant it anyway. I should have said that I use an Iron sword to begin with. Lol

Try Sharpness IV or Knockback II...or Peaceful....
Stay fluffy~
