Are there any tricks to building underwater, outside of getting the Respiration enchantment? I doubt that would be very helpful while building large underwater projects.
Underwater building is probably my next venture, and was trying to think of ways to make this easier. I suppose building a huge underwater dome would make the water inside the dome dissipate?

I just go to bottom of a lake or ocean and it works like real water. first dig down then over to the side then up instant air build base from there I have lots of bases most are hard to find. I play on creater mode but the physics should work the same.

unless people care an awful lot things will not cange they just will not
Use a door, panes of glass, or something similar to make air bubbles under water. Glowstone can be helpful in seeing around. Find a mosntly flat area underwater and flatten anything that is not good. Build a floating air platform in the shape (floor outline) you want your underwater home, dome I suggest. (You will also need a way in.) Then build out of sand and or gravel what you what your place to look like. Destroy the gravity ingnoring blocks and the sand will fall, getting rid of all the water from your house. Now, it is back underwater for you. Build around the sandcastle with the blocks you want to leave, glass? Once done, all you have to do is clear out the sand. This way, you are never fighting against water flow, and you can design what you want it to look like in the open air and sunlight. Much better than swimming.
Actually good point. Now that glowstone is renewable (by killing blazes) I'm so flush with glowstone that lighting up the sea is finally feasible!
I used glow stone and built a Pinapple under the sea but for some reason I cant git the top to stay. Also did you know that if build from the floor of the sea up and you inclose the area the water will disappear so you can dig straight down and build a latter from the base up using the Old Man Walk once your on the latter
You can set up air pockets at eye-level using only one glowstone or jack-o-lantern. This is useful especially when you are deep at the ocean floor where it is dark. It's efficient because doesn't waste a door, ladder, or sign, and its purpose is two-fold: provide light and air.
I made a YouTube video of the method:
Just use gravel or sand to fill the shape, surround it with glass, break into the structure and clear out all of the sand/gravel. Now you have a glass dome or whatever.
i wish i had come onto this before building atlantis -_______- huge dome tunnel in and out made from glass glowstone and lapis building it was easy but it took 3 hours to get ALL of the water out with help. not including the time to remove the water from the tunnel which leads to the surface......

but you could do that with pumpkins too...O_o although I do have to say in this manner the glowstone actually looks a bit better.:D
