playing survival hard i have started enchanting armor as soon as i get enough xp. ussually my first enchantment is for the diamond pickaxe i needed for the enchanting table then i do armor. using a lot of leather armor. recently enchanted armor head to toe with 5, 3, 5, and 3 xp and got protection 1 on everything except projectile protection 1 on pants. what does everyone else do?

At first, I usually enchant low on anything except diamond. After I have a surplus of diamonds and a good xp farm I always go for lvl 30 enchants

i run around armorless because i dont wait tools on armor.
Aaand zero sense was made!
I play on hard survival and usually just run around in protection III, feather falling IV diamond boots. Makes it a bit more challenging. Also if you are doing low level enchants, I suggest using only 1 level per enchant.
i tried the level 1 enchantment at first but clicked on the table over 20 times and didn't get an enchantment with level 1 so i stopped trying and waited till i got a couple more levels.
I seem to be accumulating XP fairly quickly in my main world; so I've pretty much got all the enchanted tools I'm ever going to need. As a result, I've moved onto enchanting armor. I'll generally enchant things using a 30-level enchantment because I'm basically looking for an excuse to use up some XP.
I don't think I've played a survival world long enough yet to enchant armor. I usually start with a level 30 pick, then level 30 sword, then level 30 bow, with standard iron armor.
I think in the near future I'll enchant armor, but it'll be the last thing I enchant tbh. There's much more useful things to enchant, and standard armor gives enough protection imo.
It usually depends on what I have at the time when I have an enchanting table... 5 diamonds later and there is an enchanting table. Then I basically use it when I either feel the need or in the mood for an attempt. All lower enchants I don't put on a diamond pick, Stone picks I would put lower only, iron pick is mixture of the two depending as I mentioned... XP is not really a problem to get so either way...:D

I've enchanted some diamond armor in my other world, but it seems like a waste of XP to me... except on helmets and boots. I can't see wasting 30 levels on XP to get a single enchantment on one item. Until thorns is available, I don't think I'll waste XP on any armor other than the helmet or boots.

If you place a torches (any other block will do) around the enchanting table, it blocks the "signal" you get from the shelves. This will allow you to easily get level 1 enchantments.

Just today I finally got a suit of Protection XV Diamond Armour in my SSP world.
