Are there any biomes or environmental features that you prefer to set up "home" base around? I'm sure most people probably choose their locations based on utility. But me, I like to make my home i a snowy biome, mainly for one small, superficial reason: instead if raining, it snows. And snow is way awesomer and pretty than rain. My curreny world is pretty bland except for one thing: home base us set up right on the edge of a large frozen lake. Looks like Christmasland when it snows.

I used to like deserts because of the "no rain" factor,but the scenery is bland.. Now i prefer plains or forest, the brigth green or semi bright grass do it for me.. Thought currently I have a backyard view of a snow biome so it's a pretty sweet view when it snows.

I like swamps, although deserts are a close second due to the no rain. I really wish rain wasn't so loud.I'm partial to savannahs as well.

Mountains.

Water in snow biomes freezes when it is open to the sky. Sunlight has nothing to do with it.

It makes perfect sense... where do you live? When the temperature is below freezing, sun or no sun, water will freeze.

Frozen lakes > regular lakes imo. Unless you're trying to fish or grow sugarcane...


At the very least, the slight slipperyness makes them fun to sprint across.

Lately its been swamps for me. Before that I liked forests or plains.

I tend to like my homes and such underground... But as far as what I like above... I'd have to say snow biomes because of the noise from the rain. Snowy hilly regions I like best.

Swamps have gorgeous views. I love them

most of them depending on my mood.

Usually I don't like starting a base in snowy, ocean, plains, or desert...

The only exception is if there was a village there, and that is a 50-50 whether I will or not.

I have a habit of making, at least of recent, underground bases. Which means I would choose a hill or mountain to burrow in. This could be in the forest, swamp, extreme hills, and sometimes even plains if forest is close by. One thing is i like to have that dark wood from snowy biomes, but do not want to live in it. I really like having swamp outside my doorstep at times if a mountain just happens to border a swamp or a large hill. I don't cut swamp trees down, for that I go to a nearby forest.

Really it just depends on my mood...:D

I kind of prefer the Nether, but outside of that my choice is non-Mushroom islands....

Snow, definitely.

I haven't actually tried snow biomes yet but I greatly prefer forests. Not for resources, but primarily for the safe feeling. I kinda feel safer in a forest than out in the open in a plains biome. Plus, I like the forest green better than anything else I've seen

I would have to say.. about 100 or so blocks from a village. That way I can trade with them when I am able to (cringes at the long update waits..) Yet I perfer if the area I am building has a nice mountain range around. And I am not talking about those part mountains, floating blocks.. I mean actual whole and decent mountains.

Also as an edit: I like to tear down the villagers hoses to make better looking ones for them. If your in my world you must live in a good house like me. lol So once we get more colorful wood those houses will look divine.

I build near spawn to make the recently spawned happy, I learned from my first world back when Minecraft 360 first came out.

Preferably, the snow biome because I love it when it snows and It makes Nordic buildings that much more epic.

I'm like Tamorr. I like to vary it from world to world. I sometimes do several very small bases at various points on the map covering most, if not all of the biomes in that map.
