Hi, we just downloaded Minecraft to our Xbox 360. Problem is: my son can't punch/chop wood. We understand we are supposed to hold down the right button, on the Xbox controller but, this isn't working. Flakes fly off the wood but the tree never gets chopped down.
Should we try removing and reinstalling/downloading the game or is there something else we should be doing?
Thanks so much for your help!
It takes about 5 seconds to chop wood by hand, and if you move the cross hairs off of the block it resets to undamaged (that lat bit is true of all blocks). Keep the trigger held down until the block actually breaks and make sure you aren't bobbing up or down or jumping.
Lag can also affect breaking blocks but it usually causes them to reappear and then break a second or so later.
Thanks, Urban_Blackbear. We must have tried that a dozen times, yesterday...and, nada. Will try again and be sure we aren't bobbing or jumping.
Starting to wonder if there's a glitch in the download.... ugh.
This is odd. Are you playing on another person's server? They may not have given you the permissions.
Otherwise, start a new world. I've never heard of this happening. If you keep it up and you see particles flying off the wood, you should get a wood block in moments, regardless of what you are using to chop it down (even a FEATHER).
That's true too. Forgot about permissions. Make sure all players have permission to mine blocks. You can hit the back button (select on most other controllers) to check permission levels during a game.

Now wonder why it didn't work. If you jump, move too far away from the block, etc. You will be unable to break blocks.
