#1 I think mobs spawn on everything (excludeing slabs glass and water ) and if it a mob spawner they spawn on anything even in mid air
As for #2..........idk.....I think they get a lot smarter in the next update mostly zombies if we get siges oh and villagers will know how to open and close doors and run away
They should be able to spawn on those. Not ever seen that change.... also to add to what the other person said, I believe they don't spawn on stairs either.
tricked?!? that is what is confusing...
Mobs will follow you as long as you don't get out of their pursue range. Once they start tracking they will keep on moving towards you.
Whether that will change or not will be in the next update maybe. Mob AI will change in the future, just don't know when. Also don't know if that will be for every difficulty or just for the harder ones. There is not much known as of yet what will be in the next update or what will be added period, if not changed. That we will just have to wait and see. It is possible that things might show up in the twitter thread, but who is to say it will be what you are looking for.... hmm... sorry couldn't be much help, but said what I do know.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Mobs can spawn on pressure plates and 'will trigger' them at the time of spawning, i use this in mob traps all the time. Eventually the mob AI will get smarter, however they still attempt to walk on a sign and fall as they view it as a walkable block. What i mean by smarter is that they will try to find ways around lava rather then jumping in it. In other words once they've locked on to you they will become smart enough to find a way to you if possible, taking longer routes if necessary to avoid pitfalls.
I built it. Zombie pigmen would not spawn on the plates nor would they walk on signs or open hatches in the 360 version.
Yes they will I have a zombie pigman farm that uses force spawning on pressure plates. Though we haven't completely finished the farm as there are still some areas that need to be addressed outside of the farm to increase efficiency they do spawn on the plates and are piston pushed to their death where we collect the goodies from below.

They should spawn inside the pressure plate. Zombies and their swine-form brethren require an opaque block to spawn upon, and two transparent blocks to spawn within, oriented vertically above the spawning block, 1x1x2. This doesn't have to be air, it can be a pressure plate, stairs, slabs, leaves, ice, torch, ladder, or any other block that is non-opaque.

In the 360 version, can mobs span on pressure plates?
Will mobs be tricked into walking over signs or open hatches and will this ever change?
Thanks for your time.

I think someone added that to the bug list thread.
