While i was playing on my server and it was on survival mode. When i went to kill a creeper instead of dropping gun powder it dropped a music disk. Is this a very rare thing to happen?
usually yes you must have gotten lucky and one of he skeletons attacking you (if there were) would have caused it you just assited its death bassically
by that i mean you got it nearly dead and the skeleton killed it thats the only other way then spending countless hours raiding mob spawners if you get a skeleton to kill a creeper and dont throw away the disc u can chuck it into a jukebox when you get one
Out in the open without any sort of trap to put a creeper and skeleton in close proximity to each other and intentionally wrangle it so the skeleton kills the creeper... yes it's pretty rare. High five!
It's actually not that hard, you just have to be a bit smart about it. On my youtube survival world I currently have 3 disks I got that way, and I wasn't even really trying. The most I've had from this method was 9 on a tekkit world (actually 11, but 2 were duplicates).
I said without intentionally trying to "wrangle" it. It doesn't happen all that often when the player is obviously completely unaware of even what they maybe should be doing to take advantage of the creeper/skeleton positioning... and I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. The OP still deserves congrats.
To make it happen more frequently, as you implied, "you do have to be a bit smart about it." So, kudos on your successes as well.
With a gravity grinder, you can get all the discs in about 30 mins. Super simple. I tried the hunting in the wild and making it happen that way, never worked for me.. :/
