So I am currently using the seed Bobloblaw and I spawned near a village, so I decided I would make my home base there. I wanted to go and find some mob spawners and more importantly an abandoned mineshaft. I went online to Bobloblaw's videos and found his abandoned mineshaft one. The world that I am on the coordinates are in the water so I thought no problem I will just make a box around the water and then get rid of it. No biggies yet. Then I looked at my map and where the mineshaft (plus 2 mob spawners almost right beside each other) is and my house is. It's on the entire freaking side of the map!!! So now I have to travel a day to get to my mineshaft/soon to be XP Grinder!! This sucks! What I am thinking of doing is just getting a ton of rail from the mineshaft and making a rail that travels across the whole map so that it's a lot faster to get there and back. Any better ideas?

Minecart railroad is what I'm currently doing. Opposite corner of the map is where the nether portal to the nether fortress and two blaze spawn mob traps is located, I have an underground minecart system going to 3 different spawners from my starting village.
Other than ready-made lodging, what is keeping you near the village? Build a nice house near the Mineshaft and spawners. Another alternative, linked nether portals.
What's keeping me there? There is a crazy cavern system in my back yard, I have ALL of my supplies (which is a lot) there, I have my wheat farms, and I have my pig and cow farms. And it feels like home to me, which took me like 2 weeks to build. I didn't know you could link nether portals how would I do that? Also, hunting for mobs at night isn't my favorite because I've gotten trapped a few times.

Building various minecart systems is ideal for situations like that. I have various safehouses throughout my realm. Just create a building above the area you want to explore, then build an underground minecart system below it leading to your village. If you need to, you can always set up a bunch of storage carts and send supplies from your village, to the new building near the spawners and mineshaft.
Hmm...I've...I've seen you post this before.
There's something you don't like about grinders..
I Could be wrong, But you seem to hunt more than play around with a grinder.
lol why you hate grinders?
That's funny I can just picture you.. waiting for the night to come... suiting up, readying food and as soon as night hits...
running into a field at night yelling "come at me!!"

It's based on the fact that the distance between portals in the nether gets you 3 times as far in the overworld. You have to fiddle a bit with the coordinates to get them to work right. After reading the Wiki, there are a few YouTube tutorials; but keep in mind that most of them are based on the PC where the Nether to Overworld distance ratio is different.
I see. Well I may just make a minecart system because I recently found another abandoned mineshaft in the crazy cavern system in my backyard. Honestly this is probably the craziest cavern system I have ever seen!!! You should check it out.

That's OK. I'm already exploring my own crazy cavern system with multiple mineshafts in one of my own worlds. So many dark holes to go into and not enough time (lol).
1) Make a second base.
2) Make a minecart track in the nether. Rember that the PC is an 8:1 ration and Xbox only 3:1, so unless you are truelly traveling far, the loading times will negate the speed boost.
3) Make a really long minecart track in the Overworld.
4) Make an underground lit passage so you can walk between them in safety.
5) There are youtube videos on how to make fast travel options using lots of boats or minecarts. Doing this is survival, might not be worth it.......
-Not quoting everyone so this post can stay smaller-
Yes, I hate grinders. It's boring just standing there and you're getting free kills essentially.
I don't wait for night to come; I make my own 24/7 night...or use the underground, depending.
Yes, I created a Spider Jockey "Spawner." However, the kills are not "free" as with grinders. To use it, you still must run about and kill while being attacked.
Please do not reply to this as it will be straying from the original topic. I only did so because I was quoted thrice.
Meh I think I want to do it Cross-Country that way I get to see the scenery and such, plus the nether is so unpleasant. Probably soon I will need some help with this minecart track. Mostly just building a station, I can lay all the track myself.
