how does everyone feel about this? do you use it? do you think it's "cheating"?
i can't bring myself to NOT turn on flying. it just makes everything so much easier/faster. i do kind of feel like it's "cheating", but i just have to do it.
i'd really like it if the host of a game could set it so EVERYONE could fly. it pains me to join games knowing i'll have to walk. >_>
Flying in creative mode is not cheating. All you are doing is using it to build. If flying in creative was considered cheating, than sprinting in survival mode would also be cheating

@op- Yeah. I feel the same way. I only play offline solo/co-op. Mostly because I play with my lil nephew. He always wants to play on his profile just because he wants to fly. It's annoying to play on his world because he doesn't play the game like I do. Plus if he needs to drop out, I don't really want to or feel like finishing what I was doing. I'd rather just switch to mine. It would be really nice to give the option for everyone to fly if they wanted to.
As to the question of cheating? If your not getting gamerscore for it or able to get on the leaderboards, no, i think it's just fine.

I want to turn on flying so bad right now. Working on a 3D skull model that I'm gonna convert into a mob trap. I want to keep my world available to still receive achievments if any of my friends still need them, so I'm not gonna fly. It would most definitely make my skull that much easier to build, though.
This is a great debate to have. Its absolutely cheating on survival. I host a huge survival world and because the city is so large and so many randoms join, i have to use host flying and invisibility to make sure randoms arent robbing houses of people that arent in game. Ppl do not like seeing the host flying, because they cant, and it sems unfair to them. It comes down to how u want to play the game. IMO things are most satisfying when u have to work harder for them.
Since it's all just peronal opinion, no one is right or wrong obviously.
I feel that flying on Survival is cheating. Survival is supposed to be the base game. Where you play completely within the confine of actual survival. Want to build a really big build? Make some scaffolding. What challenge is there in flying around being able to reach everything?
The only time I think flying in survival is acceptable is when it's being used to be the host. Flying around to check on everyone to make sure everyone is playing fair, etc, etc. Stuff like that.
I don't use it on survival . . although, on my current map I may just have to turn it on. My 'base' is in a swamp which is surrounded by huge mountains with many steep cliffs and small ledges. . . what should happen to be on those ledges? Friggin sheeps and cows!
Don't really use flying though. Can't fly IRL, so am used to walking. Lol
I consider this cheating, since you must turn Host Options on, which is not mandatory at all.
It's the same of using Creative mode to build stuff in your survival world and claiming it was 'legit'.
In the end, it's always a matter of being proud of your own work.
If you do something on a world and the " you can not get achievements or leaderboard saves" pops up when you load the world then you have cheated.
I disagree. Cheating is when you find ways to do the same while keeping the achievements and leaderboards active. Deactivation of the leaderboards and achievements is a precaution to prevent cheating, it doesn't arbitrarily make the act of using an in-game tool for a purpose it was intended cheating. Creative and flying within creative is merely an ingame tool to help building go faster. Flying as a host privilege is an ingame tool to help hosts keep an eye on other players in the game. That is why hosts cannot currently make it so everyone can fly in survival mode. They do "pay a price" for using their host options in that the world then has leaderboards and achievements disabled. If everyone in the game is aware of this "price," then paying the price expressly makes it "not cheating." As I said, cheating would be when you somehow avoid paying the price for the convenience.

Creative + Flying = Legit.
Adventure map + Host options = Debatable.
Stay fluffy~
