I love Minecraft for the Xbox and I love being competitive. So I was thinking today this might be the perfect place to get a little competitive buliding started. I searched the forums first to make sure I wasn't the 13th person to think of this. Anyways I'm thinking weekly or bi-weekly (probablly bi-weekly) building competitions. Each competition would have its own topic (under water, castle, mansion, etc) and would be judged by impartial parties not entered in that weeks competition (and/or voted on by you). Topics could be choosen via Poll. And hey, if there are enough people interested I'll even throw in some MS points as a grand prize. This would be a great way to see what some of you are made of and how you handle the pressure dun dun dun dun na dun under pressure, pushing down on m......opps sorry got in the moment.
I'd might give it a try! I haven't had much motivation to build much, but this would be neat and it being a competition would definitely give me motivation to build.

good idea but will take alot of work
I assume you refering to the "Giveaways" section (if not please correct). The only requirement for entry was the entry its self. Nothing to subscribe to or sign up for. I thought by elimnating the "requirement" factor I would be abideing the rule. Againg If I'm missing something please speak up.
As far as the work I don't see how it would be much work at all. Submissions are sent, judgeing narrows down the subbmissions to 3 finalists, a poll would decide the winner. Looking back however I do see how even every two weeks would be a bit laborus so maybe a monthly competition, this would give all participants enough time to really show what they can do, and seeing as a months time would give the more expierenced builders (the ones that will most likely win haha) ample time to create it will make narrowing down to the finalists alot faster.
This was all just a thought, getting somefeed back would decide wether it was really worth it or not.

It's still against the rules. I once received an infraction for merely suggesting a possible MSP or XBL card prize, even after stating I would check with Microsoft and forum staff beforehand. I ended up fighting the fraction and winning, but the moderator who gave it to me in the first place was in the wrong to begin with.
Also, it has been suggested many times. The reason you haven't seen it is probably because a competition/challenge topic like this could be worded in about a thousand different ways. I've only seen them because I've been around awhile and have looked at several that popped up. They all have one thing in common, they never get enough interest and they drift into obscurity within a couple days.
But who knows, maybe you can bring something new to the table. Try to think of a gimmick, something to get people inspired and excited about it. Good luck!
EDIT: P.S. The giveaway rule only refers to something of monetary value. If you receive some sort of coupon code as a special offer, such as for a free game, those are okay. Don't see too many of these on Xbox LIVE, but people give away Steam coupons all the time in this forum.

The rule for Giveaways changed a few months back.
As for the topic, if you really are going to do a giveaway, how are you going to do the MS Points? Are you going to be buying the points yourself? If you are going to be doing this bi-weekly, it's going to get expensive if you're doing this out of pocket.
If anything, you may want to run it as a normal contest without a prize.
