I'm trying to run tests regarding the bug where some things spawn in some modes and not in others. My theory is that this bug may be triggered by the coding that was used to cause certain chests to not generate if the tutorial mode was exited.
I didn't have much time at all to play last night, but I did create a new tutorial world post update. I entered the nether before leaving the tutorial mode; then I saved and exited and re-entered the tutorial in creative mode. The fortress in the nether now generates in a different location and I spent a little time searching the fortress for the music disc chest - nada. I also flew over to the old location, but couldn't spot it there either. This may because I left the tutorial mode before actually finding the chest, but I ran out of time. Can anyone confirm whether this chest is: 1) still in the nether at all and 2) whether or not it was moved to the new fortress location or left at it's former coordinates?
I will also be running tests in other seeds as well when I get some more time. It helps speed these tests up at lot if I know the coordinates of where items should be found before I create the worlds I'm testing. If anyone encounters an issue with various structures going missing in one mode or the other (creative or survival), please post the seed number string and the coordinates of the structures involved and I'll run a test on my XBox to see if the issue duplicates itself on my system. Perhaps we can eventually find a pattern to the incidents to help 4J track down this issue.
The tutorial should be a pre-saved level in theory, so the nether should not have been affected by the bugfix. If it is, then the tutorial, at least in part must be generated when loaded, rather than loaded from a preset world save? I am attempting to check and see if the nether chest is there in a new tutorial load. Will let you know what I find...

Thanks. The fortress has definitely moved locations and is no longer laid out the same as it was before. That much I was able to confirm last night.
Yes, I can confirm that the nether fortress is different now. I found the chest, it is still located at the map coordinates that it was previously; X: -117, Y: 74, Z: -73
There is no nether fortress at that location though, just a cave in the nether rack. I can confirm it is still there with contents intact, but it is definitely more difficult to find now.
