So you bring out a new update to fix a bunch of issues that I have never even seen, yet the 1 issue I have is still in effect. The ice age is still in my world when it should have never been snowing in the first place. I would like to know why they ignored this 1 thing that has blemished my world and increased the workload to make it the way I want it to be (snow shoveling every 20 minutes is a pain in rear)
I'm sure I'm not the only one affected by this blatant punch to the face. So why have they ignored this MAJOR bug? Snow should only be in snow biomes not EVERY biome. I have been waiting anxiously for this to be fixed and was excited to wake up this morning and see it fixed but instead of waking up with joy I just received another punch to the jaw.
I can tolerate the swamp water in my ocean biome that looks like a damn oil spill but the snow has got to go. No I will not put a glass roof over my city because it looks retarded and don't tell me to live with it because I have been and I'm tired of being plagued by the incompetence of 4J.
you do realize IT"S NOT A BUG, the map you're using had the biomes shifted when tu7 came out, and the area's it's snowing in are now coded as snowy-related biomes. i assure you if you re-create the seed with the current seed, the co-ords that your build is located in will be a snowy biome. stop complaining, suck it up, and use some creative lighting solutions to keep the snow at bay.
So your saying I should just layer my entire map with torches because some idiots decided to change all the seeds because they added 1 stupid biome which isn't even on the new seed of my map. btw the entire map is covered in snow except 3 of the corners. Why could they not just make new seeds for the new feature instead of overwrite my seed? Why should I "suck it up"? does anyone tell other people to suck it up when their animals are buggy? or that the sound effects are screwed? No they don't. it gets reported and fixed. Why can they not fix this issue? Am I supposed to recreate months of work every single time they decide to throw an update at us? What kind of business strategy is that? I paid for the game to play it continuously, not restart every 3 months. And I believe I have a right to some real answers instead of some jerk who thinks that its ok for them to take a crap on the players who purchased their game.
They have ignored it because IT"S NOT A BUG. It is an unavoidable product of the system the game uses to generate terrain based on a combination of a seed number string and a formula. It can't be readily fixed because it is the result of biomes being added to that formula; and those additions causes the system to react differently to the same seed strings than it did before the additional biomes were added into the game.
That is, a seed string that produces one type of terrain with one update, will produce different terrain at those same coordinates after an update that adds a biome. The climate of the terrain is also generated from a reference to the seed string itself; so once the update is made, the system plugs in the old world's seed string (which didn't change) into the updated climate formula... so it "thinks" that what's at those coordinates is a snowy biome and it makes it snow. However, since the terrain in explored old world's is already generated and no overwritten (to protect your builds), the climate after an update no longer matches the old terrain that didn't change.
In my old 1.7.3 world, it did the reverse... that is, it no longer snows in the snowy terrain where I build my igloo village. The snow on the ground doesn't "melt" with the change, but if I disturb it, it certainly doesn't regenerate because precipitation at those coordinates now falls as rain, not snow.
The climate in your world will probably change again with TU9... because that update will be adding jungles to the terrain generation; and the system will again be using an updated formula to generate the climate. You may even get lucky, and the climate will change in such a way that it might better match your existing terrain. There are no guarantees though.
Thank you for a reasonable answer. That is all I wanted to know. If only more people could be like you and just give answers instead of degrading other people for raising their own pitiful ego.

Well, you're in effect demanding that they rewrite the entire game into what would essentially be a different game just to pacify your desire to hang onto an "old game world" forever. Rewriting the entire terrain generation and climate protocols is something that 4J probably doesn't have the authority to do unilaterally. Mojang wrote it this way originally on the PC. PC users went through climate change over this same series of updates, and 4J were just hired by Mojang and Microsoft to port Mojang's game onto the XBox beginning with version 1.6.6 and updating through to version 1.2.3. What will happen after 1.2.3 is anyone's guess.
ETA: Thank you for the compliment about my answer. I understand the previous poster's frustration though. This problem has been explained in detail many many times over the last few months.

Ever heard of hypocrisy? Did you not degrade the entire staff of 4J Studios, a mere four hours ago? Calling them incompetent for not "fixing" a non-existent "bug" that they have no control over, that's just rude. This happened in the PC version a long time ago, yet you're surprised it happened to us. It's not out fault (or 4J's) that you were completely oblivious to what most of us already knew was coming.
Sorry, but it really irritates me when somebody insults another on how they're doing their job, especially when they don't have a clue how to do it themselves. Imagine yourself in their shoes for a minute, then tell me that wouldn't upset you in some way or another.
It's rather unfortunate that this had to happen. Even where there is desert there is snow. And it seems to be spreading. I hope in a further update this changes, but for the time being it is an "oh well". I dig my little world so to counteract the snow I built pyramids over the whole thing.
wait.. what about wood? i need an ice planet with at least a single tree.
You should try the seed Christmas then, it is mostly snow plains. There are parts where there are that spruce forests, but most of the map is snow plains, that have oak every so often.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

Dont cry about it. In my years of playing video games Ive learning that companies "taking complaints " and looking to you for advice is a scam. They dont truly check suggestions on this thread or anything else that doesnt have a majority of clear customer support. Instead they look to similar games and what critics like about it and install that into it. The other game here is PC version. They dont look to customers for advice, they follow the steps of pc. Same thing with Xbox and Play Station, Call of duty, halo and battle field. Although they do look for skins advice, this is about the only topic. The makers could care lessless.
I'm guessing this has been explained to you already, but I'm gonna post my thoughts.. Since the biome code has been altered there is no going back. Now, I know nothing about coding (Beyond simple HTML editing), but I'm guessing the old biome code cannot be kept on old worlds without causing issues.

that's the forum list i always expected to find, but all of the forum links i used that lead to the xbox360 forum area go to this specific forum. thanks for setting me straight!
Well while you guys are talking of snow biome, seeds anyone know of a seed that Is mostly snowy woods, some snowy plains are ok. I am going to make a skirmish I n the battle of the bulge and I need some woods. If nobody can find one, that's fine.

pixelart ATAT walkers and ice caverns.
i'm a little jealous.

You could also try
harmless snowstorm
It like plains but litirally the entire map is snow.
is there an xbox seed thread i'm missing somewhere?
i've gone looking for something like that about a dozen times and all i find are scattered threads about specific seeds.
thanks for the help!

i'd +rep if i could figure out how.
It doesn't actually melt. It just won't reform as ice if you break it or if you melt it with a light source and then remove the light source.
