So I tamed a few wolves, and to keep them in reserve, I made a kennel for them in the nearby town (instead of my castle, where the barking would drive me batty)
Well, I noticed a few odd things. First of all, I had a hard time getting them to walk through the door. Normal wooden door, in a wooden building. They kept getting stuck, hesitating, and exiting. I finally did finagle it and get them in by creating an open entrance.
Then things got weird.
They'd appear next to me, when I was far away from the kennel. Just poof, there's Fido having a seat next to me in a large field of grass. On this world, I never tamed more than the three, and all three of them were told to park it in the kennel (though two were dark shaded, if that helps solve the mystery).
Then it got MORE weird.
Putting them back up, I went back to work on my tower. I was happily slapping the cobblestone stacks on, about 12 blocks up, and then I noticed I was unable to place a block on the outmost stack. I kept trying, but it would not place. After about the fourth time I heard a YELP and one of the wolves appeared ON that block then fell off the tower.
Shaking my head, I proceeded to build again, and then a wolf appeared AGAIN on a nearby stacked block.
hmm... looks like another thing came from the pc...><
Seemed to happen a lot on the pc edition, same thing and behavior. Makes me wonder though if things in the future with certain things like this will change on the xbox for the better. It should be like was before: Sit and stay, no teleporting to you. Not sitting, can teleport to you. I guess this is the time where the weirdness will or may get worse if not better depending on how 4J plans to go about fixing or working with this particular oddity...hmmm...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

I've noticed that, since the 1.0.1 update, my dogs do occasionally get up from the sitting position and teleport to me if I'm being attacked by something and I'm, say, within 30 blocks of where my dog is sitting; regardless of whether or not the dog could possibly see the attack. I just thought this was normal behavior.
OP: Most of the animals are having more difficulty navigating through single doors now than they did before 1.0.1.
The teleporting wolves when Im attacking something is annoying, they warp in, get in my way, and take the hit that was meant for the mob. Yet if they are sitting, and you are attacked, they dont warp in to help for some reason. I went idle had wolves sitting nearby, and came back to a respawn screen because a zombie had spawned into my house (my fault for removing a few torches and not replacing them) but the fact my wolves didnt help me out was a bummer. So I euthanized them for their insolence.
I have had tamed wolves doing the same thing but it was also last week multiple times before the update. For instance i have a 30 by 30 glass/stone building with four doors on each side and a tamed wolf sitting about 5 blocks from each entrance. I'll be under this building in a large underground complex and one of the surface wolves will appear next to me. My best guess was that some mob or something had bumped them enough to disturb their position?

Yes. The stupid wolves keep jumping into the line of fire. Plus their targetting isn't the best ("Oh let's go wander around for a bit while that giant spider is savoring a bit out of master's leg....")
Every time I take it into my head to assemble some Canine Corps, I usually end up getting rid of them when I'm reminded they are virtually useless in practice.
Yeah they were cool to begin with, but their AI really isn't the smartest. You can kill enemies a lot quicker and efficiently than wolves can. I mean they are cute and all, and gives you a pack feeling. But in essence they are completely useless except for aesthetic qualities. Just the illusion of guard dogs. Though if we aren't able to put our seeds up for joinable public for the entire XBLA Minecraft community all the work, and making rooms for people is completely useless, because being limited to your friends list is very empty. People have things to do, they never want to play, or whatever excuse they have. Not able to join it unless youre online is another thing. Why put a bunch of work into something you cant work on whenever you are available to play. Usually your friends are on their own stuff alone doing their own thing. Friends list thing is good and all, but a Public Seed Option would really make this game shine. Thats the big thing the PC has over the Xbox version. The amount of players able to join, and the human element. Because lets face it, playing alone is fun only for a period of time. Then after that it just feels empty.

The wolves definitely have a lot of glitches that need to be worked out. My wolf couldn't get into my house. It wouldn't follow me in when I'd stand on the door plate inside the house, so I just had it permanently sit outside my door.
The other day, my friend had an enderman inside his out... located right outside my front door. So I went into his house and hit it. The enderman teleported into my house, then my wolf teleported into my house and attacked it. The wolf then wouldn't follow me back downstairs to the door so I could have it sit inside my house. Instead it ran in wild circles and ended up going through a window into the lake. So I then had to go outside and jump into the water and show the dog the way out of the water.

Any idea what's going on here??
