Actually that is like putting ice in the fireplace....O_o Kinda makes sense why the blaze won. Fire and ice don't really mix. Snowballs don't really do a whole lot of damage either, if any at all...
We need another ranged golem in the game. That would make things rather interesting. Anyway I would assume blaze are pretty tough to begin with. I think you would have better chances vs. ghasts but not much better. lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Snow golems dont actually do damage. They are mainly there to distract enemies while you fight what they are shooting at.
snowballs do damage blazes but just pushes other mobs.
@OP my snowgolem army died also in a frontal assault so they seem to be more useful as a safety valve. Putting 4 of them in pillboxes to cover your retreat if you get in trouble can be useful. Or as sentrys on your nether castle. you can grow pumpkins and mine snow so they are easily replaced when killed.

Snowballs are actually the weapon of choice. Snowballs can be thrown very quickly and each snowball does 3 damage to the blaze Each blaze has 20 health or 10 hearts. Thus takes rougly 7 snowballs to kill each blaze.
On hard difficulty blaze are a fearsome opponent and need to be dealt with carefully.
Snow golems by themselves are rather weak and not really that useful however as someone already mentioned can be farmed for all the snowballs and thus snow blocks you need. However when iron golems show couple these snow golems with them and you have a pretty unstoppable force as the snow golems distract and temp freeze enemies and when the iron golem reaches them its game over.
Snow golems are extremely useful to have in the end world as they provide you with a unlimited number of snow for building with, certainly much easier the running back and forth to the over world for some building blocks to construct whatever your going to build there, course you could use end stone but i like snow there it kinda stands out.
Eh, I use the Snow Golems as house defence by caging them around my house or a snow farm. Aren't really useful for anything else. When Iron Golems come, thats a different situation.

I was talking in general, but yeah that sounds about right. haven't really built one since they were put in due to looking for a map...lol
Oh you probably could make a cobblestone generator in the end so you would have a source of cobble, then furnace, plant trees to have the wood/charcoal, and then you could start production on stone bricks if you wanted...:D
Well that is the idea anyway..

It takes some time but my snowmen killed two spiders and two zombies in my survival map. Snowballs are weak but they damage all mobs.

Or create a smoothstone generator and use silk touch to mine it, save some time and resources.

if only... I only know how to make the cobble one. I know how to make smooth stone from lava/water, but a generator is a different mater...Hmm... I'll have to think about this one a bit, as that one would be a bit more fickle to mess with, or well to get it correct and functioning properly.... The time it takes me to even get silk touch I mind as well be using that on the overworld and not the nether... My chances are low in getting one...

maybe 3 chambers, the middle being lava flowing downward, water source blocks to the sides, so they create a 3rd source block where the lava hits, creating a smooth stone block, and a piston pushes that out. below is a rough diagram of the chamber (block emotocons ftw!).
LOL, they need much more training if they're gonna run the Nether world...I run it like a BOSS, except for when I run back into my little nether brick house when those stupid flying guys (Ghasts) huff, puff, and blow the whole scenery into a flaming zombie pigman body filled, Hellish place (as if the nether didn't always look like that upon generation but we won't get into that cause I wanna prove a point and this freaking parentheses text is so long that I'm probably gonna stop right here...okay...RIGHT HERE) and also, I don't think you should take a snowman firefighter to put out a house-fire.
Smooth stone generators are built very similar to cobblestone, only with cobblestone the two kinda meet each other. To do a easy smooth stone have your water source at bottom and lava stream down from the top where it touches the water will generate smooth stone push that out and another will form, pretty simple. I prefer this style over cobblestone as even if not using a silk touch it will mine about 2x faster then cobblestone generator.

Jeesh, I'm better off taking them out myself.
