please double check this to see if it's a bug but this is how i got water in the nether. I don't have a silk touch tool so i went into creative and headed to the nether. if you place an ice block down then place a glowstone (maybe a torch would work too) on top the ice will melt (takes a few seconds to a few minutes). the water under the glowstone is now a block of water if you destroy the glowstone then the block becomes a water source and starts flowing. I made a four block well like this also. the single source blocks of water can be picked up with an empty bucket but there will be no water in your bucket after. the infinite well can be dipped from but again no water in your bucket and the well remains eternal. water does damage to blazes so you could build a blaze grinder in the nether. a zombie pigman jumped in the well and swam for a while but appeared to take no damage. i don't know about ghast or slims.
Im thinking with a silk touch tool i could do this in survival. could anyone try this out in your world and see more about what's going on? I'm still shocked to see water in the nether
On the PC, a silk touch pick will mine ice; but that feature is not yet introduced to the XBox; therefore, it won't work outside of creative mode on the XBox yet.
Oh yeah, this again...
I remember when I first heard about this.
At first I thought water can normally be in the nether.
I never took a bucket of water to the nether before so I wouldn't know.
But yeah the only way to do it Legit is A mod.
Before I get bashed. When I say legit I mean still able to earn achievements and Get on the leaderboards
It's a typo, get over it. Hang around and you'll see some posts that make this guy look like Shakespeare.
OP: It's not a bug, per se, a bug (a.k.a. glitch) is more like a mistake made by the devs, often leaving some part of the game with unexpected and unexplainable mechanics. For example, the duplication glitch, corrupted blocks, or the many odd happenings involving dispensers. What you have discovered is more like a loophole, something the devs overlooked in their attempts of keeping the nether a water-free realm.

this feature was also in the PC, and when they added the feature for silk touch to mine ice blocks (i believe, and please feel free to double check me, in 1.2.4), they also "fixed" the melting ice = water in the nether, so this will also probably happen to us. so get your water in nether now folks, it'll prolly be going away soon!
is seems like your just a pc user why are you trying to dictate how xbox360 users play. I have still have water in the nether I have not turned all the lava obsidian and I don't use it for that at all.
